Rin was Actually A Spy for Hidden Mist Village (But Betrayed Them)
I think rin was actually a spy from hidden mist village, during the war her mission was to sneak info out of leaf village to the mist village. But her attachment to kakashi and her guilt towards obito made her to betray the mist village. If you see the manga the guys surrounding kakashi and rin are wearing hunter nin masks who's sole purpose is to hunt down betrayers and dispose their body of in order to prevent other villages from stealing intel and techniques (Check the first encounter arc with zabuza when naruto was young, kakashi himself explains the role of hunter nin's). The Hunter Nin's wanted key intel from rin before killing her, her only choice since she was surrounded made kakashi promise to kill her in order to protect the village. That's why the ninja's were so interested in rin.

And one of the 7 swordsman uses the same mask. So your point is invalid.

So what he can be a part time hunter nin. It is not everyday that a fellow village ninja betrays the village, so he does have other jobs and titles as a ninja

Re: Rin was Actually A Spy for Hidden Mist Village (But Betrayed Them)
thats not what it seemed like it looked like she had a special ability that they wanted to get there hands on. if she was a spy she would be usless to them cause shes been shot down by kakashi and at that point shes dead but they still wanted her body thus concluding she was special and and had a ability they wanted to take from her

They wanted her body since the plan had failed they wanted to quickly destroy the body to prevent anybody from accessing the secrets of hidden mist village and how much info she had given.

I find this the most reasonable theory posted on NarutoBase so far.
I really don't understand why people have to be such haters.

Good ideas. I enjoyed reading your thoughtful remarks more than the mindless babble on the rest of this thread.

Re: Rin was Actually A Spy for Hidden Mist Village (But Betrayed Them)
From what I gathered, it is more likely she had some intel rather than ability. I mean she seemed pretty less than average even though she had above average credentials. But to have the mist after her must mean she knew something she wasn't supposed to. Minato was on another mission so if they had a team of 3 and now just 2 that means something must have happened because I doubt they would just send 2. Knowing that Kakashi was alone a threat must have prompted them to add more muscle to their arsenal. Kakashi is quite lucky to have had Obito show up out of nowhere and kill his enemies otherwise it would have been quite tragic.

This is the first time I've heard anything about hunter nin. Good job. Haters gonna hate!
