Ichigo became captain level in a few days where they took hundreds of years, takes out most of the captains, then when he returns home from soul society becomes absolutely weak again.
In that respect, kishi owns, however kishi himself has made a few inconsistencies.
Fans are fans, and as fans we tend to think more and deeper and find holes in things than the creators, it is the same with anything, films, books, sagas.
No creator is perfect, but bleach is up and down so much it makes gauging any characters ability impossible because 1 day they're owning everything and the next theyre being killed by a butterfly.
