      Spinning Girl

Do you see her spinning clockwise or counter-clockwise? I only see her spinning clockwise.

I saw this for the 1st time about 2 years ago, but it just resurfaced in a convo w/ a friend, so I was fooling around w/ it again. Supposedly if you're right brained it goes clockwise, & if you're left brained it goes counter clockwise, but who knows, maybe it's all just BS. Some people say they can make it change directions, give it a try, maybe it will work for you. I kinda think it spins clockwise only, & people lie about counter-clockwise.

Btw, if you complain that this is stupid or that you've seen it before, just know that you're a d-bag. Enjoy.

If you've never seen this before here's the explanation (cutting & pasting):
The spinning girl is a form of the more general spinning silhouette illusion. The image is not objectively “spinning” in one direction or the other. It is a two-dimensional image that is simply shifting back and forth. But our brains did not evolve to interpret two-dimensional representations of the world but the actual three-dimensional world. So our visual processing assumes we are looking at a 3-D image and is uses clues to interpret it as such. Or, without adequate clues it may just arbitrarily decide a best fit – spinning clockwise or counterclockwise. And once this fit is chosen, the illusion is complete – we see a 3-D spinning image. By looking around the image, focusing on the shadow or some other part, you may force your visual system to reconstruct the image and it may choose the opposite direction, and suddenly the image will spin in the opposite direction.

Oh, & please note the nip detail.:P

      Re: Spinning Girl

I can change the way she spins... its really simple to be honest to do it.

Since it's a silhouette, you can trick your mind to believe that her arms are swinging around anti-clockwise.

I guess I'm the chosen one... why would I lie about an old optical illusion?

The image is black and has no illusion of depth, therefore, depending on how you perceive the image, the leg can either be passing infront or behind the woman.

If you make yourself believe that the leg is passing in front by staring at it and telling yourself that, you can easily reverse the spin.

Want me to prove it? Try staring at the reflection on the ground to the left of it.

I don't really think you're lying, but you can't prove anything & it's not easy.

I can cover the image w/ my hand, just leaving the lower left shadow & end of her foot. I can imagine it spinning counter-clockwise & even begin to see it in the shadow (it's covered by my hand but I feel it going counter-clockwise), then when I remove my hand...it's back to clockwise. I doesn't work for me & will never work for me because I know it's going clockwise.

If you can make her change directions then you're a Jedi.

So far, you're the only person that can make her change direction, you're a Jedi.
Once you remove your hand, your eyes instantly see the bottom-right hand corner, which tells your brain the woman is spinning clockwise.

It doesn't matter which side of your screen you look at, it matters how your brain interprets the image.

When I cover the image w/ my hand & remove it, I don't even notice the bottom-right, I see the center of the image & it immediately reverts back to clockwise.

No, protecting the galaxy is too mainstream. I have to protect the interwebs.

      Re: Spinning Girl

Here's the right brain vs left brain explanation (cutting & pasting):
The Right Brain vs Left Brain test ... do you see the dancer turning clockwise or anti-clockwise? If clockwise, then you use more of the right side of the brain and vice versa. Most of us would see the dancer turning anti-clockwise though you can try to focus and change the direction; see if you can do it.

LEFT BRAIN FUNCTIONS: uses logic, detail oriented, facts rule, words and language, present and past, math and science, can comprehend, knowing, acknowledges, order/pattern perception, knows object name, reality based, forms strategies, practical, safe

RIGHT BRAIN FUNCTIONS: uses feeling, "big picture" oriented, imagination rules, symbols and images, present and future, philosophy and religion, can "get it" (i.e. meaning), believes, appreciates, spatial perception, knows object function, fantasy based, presents possibilities, impetuous, risk taking

I'm annoyed that I can only see her clockwise.

      first 5 layers in order:

You can see its clockwise, if you see it counter clockwise its your mind playing tricks on you.

Whole thing was 34 layers, definitely not just a 2d image with your brain filling in the blanks.
