no, it only depleted his chakra reserves after he had practically used all of his chakra that day and he did revive a lot of people. if i remember correctly Konan said to him the way your chakra reserves are now, or sth similar.

so, no. it wouldn't kill him. but probably there is sth like a time limit after which the jutsu is rendered useless. or sth else, kishi will soon tell us as in order to revive Madara with rinne tensei as the original plan was, Nagato would have to use the jutsu long after Madara died.

maybe it is sth like that: rinne tensei can either revive a lot of people simultaneously but close after their deaths, or one individual and long after his/her death.

either way it is weird that Nagato completely forgot about Yahiko and decided to save the jutsu for Madara.

Bullshit, he had enough power to revive a ton of Konoha people after he fought the Kyuubi and used Chibaku Tensei, surely he couldhave resurected 1 person alone.

That is not a plot hole.A plot hole is a gap or inconsistency in a storyline that goes against the flow of logic established by the story's PLOT, or constitutes a blatant omission of relevant information regarding the PLOT.Nagato was tricked just like obito into using his power for "peace" He wanted the reality of this world to change bringing back yahiko does not complete his goals.

the real reason he never revived him, is probably because he died so long ago that it would cost him his life(to make the amount of chakra needed) to do so, konan knew of the technique because he had used it beforeas show here

so she also says that if he uses it with those chakra levels he will die, which leads to maybe he almost died before trying to revive yahiko.....

also he may not have known it at the time and only learned the technique before it was to late....what is implied is that a full chakra nagito can revive someone who died about 20 years ago(madara)... ultimatly we will never know
