So, firstly, why do you want to learn Raiton?
The reason being, is that you must always appreciate and utilize the canon techniques. These days, people simply take their knowledge of the Basic Five for granted. You must look at them much in the same way as you look at a special ability or element.

I want to learn Raiton because it is arguably my favorite of the basic five. I love everything about lightning. The look, the power, the speed, the color... all of it. I want to be able to electrocute my enemies to put them in a temporary paralysis so that they are susceptible to attacks. Also, the piercing power displayed by Kakashi Hatake and Sasuke Uchiha on many occasions would be very useful.

Frankly put, quite stunned by that response. Well put, I like the honesty and the earnestness! I hope you put this element to good use!
So, before we move on with Raiton, may I know a bit about its weaknesses and strengths and how one might utilize it to his advantage?

Lighting is strong against Doton. That is because it can easily travel through the ground and break it apart. As Sasuke has shown us through his fight with Deidara, it can also react with C(1,2,3,4) bombs in such a way that it cancels it out completely, rendering it useless. It can also be used in combination with Suiton to increase the power of the Raiton based attack, or vice versa. Raiton, although good against Doton and with or against Suiton, is weak against Futon due to wind being a natural insulator of electricity.

Also, as Sasuke Uchiha demonstrated, using natural lighting via storm clouds created by natural means or the heating up of the atmosphere via Katon, lighting can be tamed and used to the user's advantage if skilled enough.

Perfect response! You are indeed correct, Lightning takes quite the control and mastery over it, unlike water or earth...it is extremely wild and can be destructive if used incorrectly.
So, let's get a small feel for it for a start!
*makes several handseals and it starts raining*

I place my hand in the same pool of water you have collected within your hands and then follow up to release a small bolt of electricity.
No doubt you have recoiled from it, but I wish for you to recount your experience and how you think the nature of lightning might flow.

Ow! Well, that was quite shocking! From that experience, I can tell that water amplifies electricity. It flows through water very well, being that it is a conductor. A small bolt of electricity like that can pack a punch when delivered through the right conductor. I also noticed that it flows very quickly.

Excellent! Ahaha, the phrase "packs a punch". xD
Well, that is precisely what I want you to do with your chakra now. Start simple, with the palm of your dominant hand. Focus Lightning chakra into it and speed it up to such a point that you are able to generate bolts of lightning.
Here, take this clone. *creates clone* Focus those small bolts upon him, please.

Your description is nice (proper English a rarity these days), however, simply stating that you sent it towards the clone's direction is not enough. You must tell me where and why you aimed it. How many bolts isn't necessary but small details always count.

As I enter striking range, I thrust my hand as hard as I can into the chest of your clone where the heart is located, for an attempt to pierce the clone with sheer bodily power that has increased due to the bolts.*

How is that, Kiritsugu? ^^

Perfect! ^^ So, in battles, there are three ranges.
Short, mid, and long.
Remember to check how far a jutsu can reach before using any as sometimes you can end up missing a jutsu or waste an useful move.
This jutsu is short to mid range and is pretty quick, so you can use it easily.

There's one major thing I forgot to emphasize upon. Why is water and lightning so strong together?

I mentioned it earlier I believe ^^
But, lightning is powerful when traveling through water because water is a great conductor of electricity.

I focus my Raiton chakra into my hand. As I do so, I feel the lightening using my body as a medium to travel through. As I continue to focus, I extend my hand at your clone from about 6 feet away, aiming at its heart. I then release the chakra into the form of lightening, striking your clone's chest, causing it to poof!

(Raiton: Raikou Oonami) - Lightning Release: Lightning Surge

Description: The user will concentrate their chakra and slam their hand on the ground to release a surge of lightning across the ground to the opponents feet to shock them.

Both of the jutsus I have taught you so far are instantaneous. They don't require handseals and are super fast, so you can easily use them in battle to shock an opponent. But you have to keep distance in mind.
This next jutsu is more unique and says a lot about the Lightning element itself.
This time, instead of focusing your Raiton chakra into your hand, I want you to focus on letting it surround and blanket your body. Push it out from the pores of your skin and let it cover you like a shield.
