Last I checked from an oldie thread, it was said not to allow such things so atm the stealing hearts is just a fancy way to kill or if I'm in the ninja world and lets say... someone destroys my fire mask, I kill an uchiha currently in the ninja world, steal his heart and get the fire element again.

Yep you're totally correct. I either didn't remember from back then or I was too dumb to notice it but there is a (-5 per turn) note in the chakra usage which implies to what you have just said. Though.. considering its rank, the technique has 20 damage xD anyways still an upside to know it stays active :3

Nope. At least unless you steal another one I think. But then if you steal another one the one you had before might die or you might just lose control of it. But all in all no you can't use the element once a mask is separated from your body.
