I like the amount of freedom for creativity that it brings. You can use the jutsus in any kind of combo that you can think of to overcome your opponent. Plus you can do almost anything with Genjutsu customs. I like the whole idea of Genjutsu cause you can use it to outwit and outplay your opponent and force them to make mistakes. Its more of an intellectual art than just firing jutsus at each other and I like to think that Im a smart guy I also hope to one day prove my prowess enough in Genjutsu to be allowed to learn NB genjutsu

Genjutsu is affecting your opponents sense of reality by distorting and controlling the flow of chakra through their brain. By doing so you create an illusionary world for your opponent which can have a wide range of affects, such as paralysis or blindness. This is a dangerous art to face since while you are trapped in the illusion, you are helpless in reality. Genjutsu is often done through one of the 5 senses, this can cause pain or trauma to the person by tricking their brain into thinking it really happened. Genjutsu is mostly associated with people of high intelligence since one must me skillful to be able to manipulate their opponent properly.

Theres loads of ways I want to use it in battle lol off the top of my head I can use a paralyzing genjutsu with earth spikes simultaneously due to my Souma No Kou bio I could also use an earth justu that falls from above towards my opponent and use the genjutsu that makes him see it as a huge fireball. ^_^ you only asked for one but theres two

And not necessarily because the smart people are smart, but because genjutsus always has a flaw to it - they're illusions after all, normally unrealistic, and it's up to you, the user, to perfect it in the best way you can.

Now, how would one counter a genjutsu? What ways might there be?

Well first in our RP you have to recognise that your in a genjutsu through one of the flaws you mentioned. For example the fireball genjutsu I mentioned, it won't have the heat of a real fire and it also won't have the effects that the light from fire will have on the ground. E.g Shadows moving wildly, weird lighting. Once you recognised that there are a number of ways that you can release yourself. The most common seen is a surge of chakra through your system, there are a few cannon techniques that do this such as Chidori current and kai.

You can also cause pain to yourself which causes a sudden spike in your chakra system and releases the genjutsu. This can be done using a kunai or by breaking your finger for example, the greater the rank of the genjutsu the more pain you must inflict on yourself to remove it. The last way but also the least seen is to have a foreign body channel their chakra into you, purging your system of the genjutsu. This can be done by an allied ninja or certain custom weapons. I believe this is also the method that Bijuu use to release their jinchuriki from a genjutsu.

Also, if you were completely immobilized, by a high level Genjutsu, the best way would to be bite your own tongue. Your body would be paralyzed, but your mouth should be able to move.

That would be the Sharingan, but I don't know that much about it cause it never really interested me. xD Well the Sharingan allows you to see your own chakra so if you notice that your chakra flow is irregular then you could deduce you are in a genjutsu. But the sharingan itself can see through Genjutsu, with 1 tomoe being able to see through D rank genjutsu and going up tomoes and ranks until you get the the MS and EMS which can both see through A rank Genjutsu and below.

Biting your tongue gives you a kind of time limit though doesn't it? Cause if the genjutsu is high enough you'll have to bite your tongue off so you'll bleed out a few turns after.

I first concentrate my chakra and I then channel it towards you and into your brain. Using my chakra I disturb your normal flow of chakra and I manipulate it to suit my needs. I then distort your five senses so that you see us sitting at a coffee shop and Im drinking hot chocolate

I can think of at least two. Well Ive seen this genjutsu:

Used quite alot and I often I see people release it by saying they use chidori nagashi to try to defend from the snakes and by coincidence they manage to release themselves from the genjutsu. So what I would do is use that same genjutsu and then form water underneath them so they cannot use chidori or they would electrocute themselves ^_^

Another one I can think of is to use this genjutsu:

To make the opponent see a fireball and to then form an earth technique in the sky above them. Because naturally they would think to use a water technique to overpower the fire but the earth would overpower the water.

Hmm ok, I might go for something a little more simple this time

To begin I focus my chakra and I then channel it towards you and into your mind. Using my chakra I hijack your normal chakra flow and bend it to my will. By doing so I cause you to see us standing on the training field for a moment before earth spikes to suddenly erupt from the ground. By guessing you will most likely use a lightning technique to defend from the earth I shoot a simple water bullet at you, causing you to electrocute yourself if I guess correctly.

Well it means you can activate your technique much quicker than your opponent can. So if I seen my opponent start a string of 5 hand seals I could perform the one hand seal and our two jutsu would be activated at about the same time, well thats what I think you mean anyway xD

I want you to focus your chakra into me once more and make it appear that you've dissolved into many petals. Actually, cherry blossom petals. Then, make those cherry blossoms around me and make sure you obscure my vision.
Then describe what purpose this serves in a battle.

To begin I perform a string of 5 handseals and I then channel my chakra over to you and push it into your brain. There I disturb your normal chakra flow and then distort and hijack it for my own purposes. By doing so I manipulate your sight so that you see my body suddenly dissolve into hundreds of cherry blossoms, these cherry blossoms then head towards you and swirl around you in a dense spiral. This blocks your sight of the area.

This is useful in battle for two reasons. Initially your opponent loses sight of you, allowing you to attack him or move in closer to him if thats what you desire. Then the cherry blossoms block his vision, by doing so he can't see any attacks heading towards him or if you are manipulating the battlefield around him.

Explosive tags are very useful for setting various traps for your opponent. One of the most common ways to use it is in conjunction with a kunai that is thrown at the opponent. By doing so this makes that simple attack much more deadlier and can be used to achieve a variety of things. The explosive tag is used by placing it on something or someone as desired and when the user wants the detonation they perform a simple mental command to make it explode. One of my favourite ways to use it is in conjunction with this earth jutsu:

If your opponent is fairly close to you, attempting a punch or a kick. You can use the earth jutsu to sink into the ground and as you do you leave an explosive tag on the surface, thus making an offensive aspect of a usually defensive only technique. So in all the explosive tag is used to augment your fighting style in an almost innumerable ways, limited only to the users creativity and imagination, similar to genjutsu

By doing so I manipulate your clones sight so that he sees 5 clones of myself rise from the ground surrounding him. As they are doing this I get into position behind your clone in his blind spot. So that once he begins to attack my clones I use my hands and shins to block his attacks, timed with my clones own blocks. This gives the illusion that they are real corporeal clones. I manipulate the genjutsu so that every time your clone strikes one of mine, the clone multiplies slowing increasing the amount of clones until your clone is greatly outnumbered.

The fact that clones multiply every time one is struck serves multiple purposes. Firstly it confuses the opponent and makes them reluctant to attack, from fear of worsening their situation. It also distracts your opponent from you, putting mental strain on them while they try to think of a way to deal with their situation. But the multiplying clones could also give away the fact that its a genjutsu.
