The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
So has anyone else read this book? And did you apply the things that you learnt from it to your own life?

*ahem*
And well.. I was already familiar with the philosophy-flavored teachings at hand, and I do still try to apply it into my life.

Heard good things. Thinking about buying it after I finish rereading Enders Game. Worth reading?

Definitely. Especially for people who aren't familiar with alchemy to begin with, the story-build up won't bore you a sec.

Such a great book, I read it a few years back and it's philosophies and principles are astounding.

*tries very hard not to stare at your face*
Yeah, I felt as if it was quite repetitive. The whole book is about this philosophy teaching and after 100 pages and after reading the same teaching over and over you actually start losing some interest in it. But since I'm always eager to know how the story will end like, I actually forced my way through it with a lot of willpower

It is a good book, although it can be quite confusing at times as the author repeats the same vague terms again and again, so you really need to read phrases like 3/4 times over before you get what he is actually trying to say. Overall it is quite a beautiful story, the end did feel a bit... weird. I never expected the ''treasure'' to be that.

I'm scary-looking, I know.
I also got some other books on my table. Like 'The Secret' < about the law of attraction. And one about the power of intention itself being able to influence the structure of matter.

It's quite the opposite.
Hmmm, the Law of Attraction, I've read and heard a lot about it. I think I can give that book a try next.

Re: The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
Nope, 'cause it's a bullshit, cookie cutter philosophy and the book is an over-hyped piece of crap.
If you want to read real philosophy and books that can actually teach you something, read Hermann Hesse
