Konan and Yahiko were both orphaned during the third great shinobi war. They met probably while scavenging around for food... Nagato joined them later, after Konoha shinobi killed his parents.

Konan stuck with Nagato after Yahiko died. Madara and Nagato started Akatsuki, so Konan was in from the start. No, she's not with Akatsuki since Nagato died.

Well yesterday i was on Naruto wiki reading Konan life and funny facts and trivia around midnight.
And under Trivia someone messed some facts about her, now its normal again like:

According to the databook, Konan's hobbies are origami and flower pressing. (original) was changed to that her hobby is doing a blowjob.

Konan shares her birthday and blood type with her former teammate, Yahiko. this was changed to that she shares a dildo with her rooommate Nagato.

Amazing. What a fascinating story.

As far as we know, Konan has gone on to lead Amegakure in place of pein. So I don't think she is still in Akatsuki. She told Naruto that she would help in the dream of creating peace.
