Gate mode - How does it really work?

I wanted to create a thread about this because i'm not really sure to understand how gate really works

In the fight against Kisame, Gai mentions that when he opens the 7th gates, sweat evaporate from his body and create this type of aura:

But later when Kakashi and Gai came to save Naruto, we can see that he already had the aura on him

1- Does it mean that he already opened the 7th gate at that moment?

I find it unlikely especially when we see later that he opened the 6th gate against Tailed Beast instead

2- Or did he only switched back to 6th mode intentionally?

Later in the fight against Tailed Beasts, when he was pushed back we can notice that he still had his aura on top of the panel, but at the bottom, it seems to have disappeared

3- Did he stopped to use it somehow to conserv some physical energy?

Something i find unlikely especially in his position. I see no reasons why he would turn off his gates when he was just pushed back by tailed beasts and still in danger then

4- So does it mean he was still in 6gate mode at that moment?

Later we can even notice that while we can't see his aura on top of the panel, his aura appears again at the bottom
And thanks to that he is able to perform morning peacock(a 6th gate move)

Later again, we can notice that Gai didn't had this typ of aura anymore and was still able to perform Hirudora(a 7th gate move)

That's why i believe that contrary to what we usually think, Gai was already in gate mode all this long. It's only that like Gai says himself his aura is not chakra, but sweat, and sweat can dry, and in this case the aura disappears. That's probably the reason why sometimes we see his aura and sometimes not

From the start he already opened the gates, but i believe that Gai is able to resist against the strain on his body during a great period of time, at least until he releases the 7th gate(what he did in this chapter)

My proof is that we've already seen Gai opening the 6th gate against Kisame

And later we can see he was still perfectly fine

He still even had enough energy to traverse through forests, fight with himself during a while and come back to Konoha without visible effects on his body

He only shown side effects after a while having released the 7th gates

So normally since Gai used Hirudora(a 7th gate move), it means that he is 7th gate state currently, and because of the side effects of the jutsu, he should not be able to use it very long unless plot

      Thoughts?

He used the sixth gate for the majority of the fight in the beginning.

He only just opened the 7 th just now

Yeah after using morning peacock and daytime tiger, he fainted but not directly. He lasted a while before collapsing. So i believe he can still fight in 7th gates but not for very long

simply what is the hiroudoro (or however you spell it) its a form of taijutsu...so if he released the gates breifly to do the tech he wouldnt have tiem for a aura....simply after the 6th gate it becomes hard to continue to move ....(since the gates are just bodies inhibitors)

Not really. He was still able to move perfectly even after using the 6th gate against kisame
