Just a theory,but bear with me:

So, if all of the paths of pain were meant to be people that Jiraiya met, yet the Animal path died and became a female...

All of the paths' pasts were explained

Except the female body.

Any slight way the female path of pain was Rin's body?

I figured the original path that Jiraiya knew of died, so they had to think of a different meaningful replacement..
