Why Don’t Black People Swim?

Friend of mine asked me a Q: And I spend most of my free time on the beach.. I don't remember Black swimers, Black surfers.. and Black people are supposed to be athletes?

August of 2010 in Louisiana, six African American teenagers ages 13 to 18 all died drowning trying to save each other. There were other people present during the tragic drowning including adults, and not one of them could swim either. Unfortunately, this brought up the common stereotype about Black people:

Its a stereotype because there's some truth to it.

Same reasoning as why "White people can't dance (or jump)" is a stereotype.

Not all black ppl can not swim.. and suffice to say.. every black person i know... knows how to swim and that picture u used of black ppl at the pool. smh. lol we all know thats a lie cause you will have n!ggas throwing mtfs in pools and trynna get some "Tang" from ladys.. tf kinda pic is that

Probably the reason being not having better access to proper training and facilities initially...

Stereotype kind of do not take the circumstances and causes of a particular behaviour/statistics in to consideration and remain even when they are outdated and not really applicable any more. Just be happy till they catch up and then overtake you.

Once again, it's a case by case issue...stereotypes are created by being with like-minded people. In fact, there really is no such thing as a "stereotype", just a large group of people that have passed on their problems to their children...same reason racism exists still, parents teaching their children their stupid flaws.

I live in the south and let me tell you when I go to a public pool I look like salt on a hamburger party.

I don't know about some of the countries you guys live in, but in the US there was once segregation. Blacks weren't allowed to use facilities designated for whites, so blacks didn't really have normal access to pools until the equal rights movement in the 1960s. Anyway, black parents didn't know how to swim so they didn't teach their kids & it perpetuated.

WAIT WHAT? Dude that's just stupid ... tell me then, why every time I go to the nightclub I see white people dancing? Or most of the parkour and athlete jumpers are white? It's a stupid statement you took from movie ''white people can't fly'' it's about basketball and it's black in america... but China, Russia and Spain is very close to wooping U.S 's ass in that sport White people got no rhythm?
