Orochimaru and Nagato's Rinnegan - Did anyone notice?

Its no suprise that Orochimaru is obsessed with the Sharingan but im starting to wonder for what reason? Isnt it to obtain the Rinnegan? Then why did Orochimaru gets so chocked when he saw the Sharingan while the RINNEGAN (Nagato) was next to him during the time Itachi joined Akatsuki?

Wouldnt Nagato be his main target then? Caus when he walks alone with Itachi later he says "The one using the precious Sharingan is standing infront of me" but he didnt do anything when Nagato with the Rinnegan was standing next to him. I dont get this, he must be after something else. Thoughts?

He had the balls to attack Itachi 1on1 even after knowing that Itachi had slaughtered the entire Uchiha clan by himself.

Perhaps Orochimaru thought to himself that Nagato would be to difficult so he would settle with Itachi's Sharingan and then strengthen it into a Rinnegan via hashirama DNA.

It's not that Oro doesn't have the balls to attack Nagato, but rather Oro knows Nagato can't use the full power of the Rinnegan.

i think oro is deeply involved in all this somehow (meaning that he knows of madara and obito's plan so that means that he also know's nagato well) nagato was not an option for oro since he was involved in the eye moon plan

My point is that Oro is no coward. He goes 1on1 with Itachi, 1on1 with Naruto in Kyuubi form, alone vs Jiraya and Tsunade etc.

Simple reason, Orochimaru already saw peins rinnegan, SEVERAL times.(Because he's been in akatsuki way before itachi)

-its obvious that Pein had the advantage, it's not like orochi can sneak a snake around an ALREADY dead corpse.

-Peins body didn't have the original rinnegan, nagato's did.

He called the Sharingan amazingly power. The Sharingan has a huge potential by evolving to the Mangekyou Sharingan and Rinnegan. I'm sure he wanted to get the Rinnegan, too. But by developing it from the Sharingan, he has access to the powers of both Doujutsu, unlike when simply obtains the Rinnegan.

They say those with the rinnegan are on a level of their own beyond humans and Oro has got to be one of the smartest ninjas so common sense plus the ability to weight options, itachi was a brainer.

Firstly, he surely realised that Nagato would've crushed him. Secondly, Orochimaru wanted to master all Ninjutsu, and this would be an impossible target if he gained control over a transplanted Rinnegan (since it would lack Mangekyō Sharingan techniques). Seizing a Sharingan would allow him to progress through all stages (with the help of Senju DNA).

Sharingan=MS/EMS+Rinnegan whereas an already developed transplanted Rinnegan=Rinnegan.

I'm sure he practically wanted an Uchiha body. Otherwise he could've also kept a few sharingan before experimenting on Danzo. Though I believe I read that Danzo allowed Orochimaru to experiment on him hence having all those sharingan and Senju DNA in his right or left arm. If i'm wrong, feel free to correct me.

Getting access to an Uchiha's eyes would obviously be easier than getting access to an Uchiha's body. Nagato had the Rinnegan but he still wasn't an Uchiha.

if he implants the sasuke`s sharingan and imbuse himself with senju dna.
He will basically will be edo madara...unstoppable. Nagato is
nothing more of a pawn to draw itachi near.

This is true, the Sharingan will copy almost any technique, and the Rinnegan will give access to any level of element or even any combination, including yin-yang release.
