      My Top 10

Hello, it's me, Wang. I'd like to discuss my top 10 favorite movies ever. For me the easiest way to determine if a movie qualifies as one of my favorites is if I'd watch it over & over again. If any of the movies below came on TV, I'd drop what I was doing and glue myself to the screen. I wish I could show clips for all my picks, but apparently I'm limited to 1 video per thread, but whatevs. Ok, here we go:

      1. Empire Strikes Back (Star Wars Episode V) - Star Wars is so sacred to me, this is my favorite movie ever. Luke trains with Yoda, Vader tries to turn Luke to the Dark Side, it's classic & I loves it.

      2. 300 - Based on the graphic novel by Frank Miller, it's the retelling of the Battle of Thermopylae, directed by Zack Snyder. I thought that this was such an awesome story, I had a geek boner for the entire film, so epic.

      3. Big Lebowski - I'm shifting gears & going w/ a comedy. This is a brilliant & hilarious film by the Coen Brothers. "The Dude" is mistaken for a millionaire, a guy pisses on his rug, & then they go bowling. Countless funny movie quotes come from this film. I'm gonna use my one video, so here's a clip:

      4. Braveheart - The true story (maybe a little embellished) of William Wallace, he unites the Scots against the oppressive English. Directed & starring Mel Gibson, before he was a douche. It's a great story with historical significance, I'm pretty sure everyone has seen it.

      5. Return of the Jedi (Star Wars Episode VI) - Han Solo gets rescued from Jabba, Luke becomes a Jedi, & balance is brought to the force...I loves it so much.

      6. A Clockwork Orange - Stanley Kubrick's adaptation of the Anthony Burgess dystopian novel (one on my favorite books, btw). Little Alex causes trouble, talks kinda funny, causes more trouble, & then is rehabilitated. This film is a classic work of art.

      7. Goodfellas - A Martin Scorsese film, the true crime story of Henry Hill. This is a classic gangster film, it's a must see if you haven't yet. Gangsta movies is cool & dis one is da coolist.

      8. Gladiator - A Roman general is betrayed & his family murdered, he becomes a gladiator & seeks revenge. Directed by Ridley Scott. Such a epic story, Russel Crowe is brilliant.

      9. Pulp Fiction - The easiest way to explain this film is to cut & paste: The lives of two mob hit men, a boxer, a gangster's wife, and a pair of diner bandits intertwine in four tales of violence and redemption. Quentin Tarantino is a genius. "Say what again, motherfer." -Jules

      10. Inception - Number 10 is a difficult choice because this is where I have to admit to myself that I'm excluding several movies that I love, oh wells. Directed by Christopher Nolan, it's a story about people using dreams to manipulate others. Everyone has seen this movie so there's no point describing it further, I guess this one is the most recently made of my pics.

Let me know what you think, & tell me what your favs are, thanks for reading!

You've never seen Goodfellas? Robert DeNiro, Joe Pesci & Ray Liotta are incredible together, it's one of the greatest crime moves ever & it's on anyone's list. A Clockwork Orange is advanced viewing, Stanley Kubrick makes freaky movies, but I think you're ready.

I follow the 1st rule of Fight Club & I don't talk about fight Club, I also follow the 2nd rule of Fight Club...anyway it's #11, it was hard for me to exclude it from my top 10. "It's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything." -Tyler Durden

You've never seen classic Star Wars? I find this pretty shocking, how is this possible? But you've seen the newer ones (I, II & III), right? I can't imagine they would have made any sense.

I suppose it's time for payback...

      1. Empire Strikes Back (Star Wars Episode V) - Of all the Star Wars films you picked Episode V for your number one? I guess it's better than the prequels, but Episodes IV and VI are so much better. For shame, sir.

      2. 300 - This film was just okay. Quite frankly, I think other Frank Miller movie adaptions such as The Watchmen and The Spirit were better.

      3. The Big Lebowski - I actually have no qualms with this choice. The Dude abides.

      4. Braveheart - Mel Gibson was shit in this movie, but that's because he's shit in every movie. Ask any true Scotsman and they'll tell you they hate this film.

      5. Return of the Jedi (Star Wars Episode VI) - Two Star Wars films in one top ten list? You need to diversify your tastes, sir. As previously mentioned, this film deserves placement above Episode V.

      6. A Clockwork Orange - I do like this film, but it's not Kubrick's best. Try Full Metal Jacket, The Shining, or Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb.

      7. Goodfellas - If you're going for gangster films, The Godfather wins, hands down.

      8. Gladiator - Russel Crowe is a terrible actor. He has zero range and he's the same ****ing character in every film.

      9. Pulp Fiction - A good film, but I still maintain my position that Basterds is better.

      10. Inception - This film was good, but it's highly overrated. The plot line wasn't as magnificent and detailed as folks make it out to be, and DeCaprio's acting isn't at its best here. Also, every time I here about it, all I can think is:

Well, I certainly deserve it, my reply:

      1. Empire Strikes Back (Star Wars Episode V) - I feel no shame, sir.

      2. 300 - This is a masterpiece, as I said, it gave me a geek boner.

      3. The Big Lebowski - That rug really tied the room together.

      4. Braveheart - There's really Scotsman? I thought it was all make believe, like leprechauns.

      5. Return of the Jedi (Star Wars Episode VI) - I'm just being honest, I lova da Jedi.

      6. A Clockwork Orange - Nope this is the best one, ask any stoner.

      7. Goodfellas - I love The Godfather, but it's on every top 10 list ever, I'm bored w/ it.

      8. Gladiator - I like Russel Crowe, so what if he has a limited range, it's a Gladiator movie.

      9. Pulp Fiction - Better than Basterds.

      10. Inception - I highly overrate things, it's fun & you know it.

Sh*tting on each other's movie lists has been fun. -Thanks for playing.
