St Peter's Cross? What Does It Symbolize?

I honestly want to get to the bottom of this.

(Btw, I was inspired to make this thread by Hunter x Hunter, episode 56.)

What exactly is St Peter's cross supposed to symbolize?

I understand that in religious transcripts, St Peter crucified himself upside down as he believed he wasn't worthy of the crucification that Jesus Christ had partaken in.

What I don't understand is the social conception of the cross.

Is it supposed to be a reference to Satan?

I mean you all ways see OF through that up.

I see TONS of Tumblr hipster photos such as...

So, NB, my question is what does the cross truly represent?

      Is it both?

      Or only one.

      (I am not religious btw.)

Re: St Peter's Cross? What Does It Symbolize?

To people such as hipsters or those who genuinely don't know what it was originally supposed to represent, it is an actual insult to the idea of Jesus. But St. Peter claimed it was what you said, but people obviously see something and if they don't know the story then they just believe what they've always thought.

Re: St Peter's Cross? What Does It Symbolize?

my personal opinion is that it's about religion and is the reason i give no F's about it and rather think the world would be better and more advanced without Religion as a whole - but that's just my opinion

It's literally ONLY the symbol of Saint Peter, but as usual, people ****ed up the meaning and made it into something it's not, like the guy fawkes masks.
