I think Tsunade was in love with Jiraiya only that she noticed too late.
I mean, also, Jiraiya was always a pervert and a jerk... but I think he was like that due to the lack of the person he really loved. He was probably looking for a Tsunade in all those women he met, or "dated".

I find it really touching when Jiraiya is about to die and he feels sad for the big failure he thinks he was. He mentioned "always rejected by Tsunade" among one of his biggest fails in life. That is just not fair!!
The Pervy deserved an opportunity because he really loved Tsunade even after all those years, being both so old, he still loved her.

Tsunade was always too tough with him, she only showed some love when they talked for the last time. I was now watching that moment again in the anime and I cried like a fool . Tsunade realized she was about to lose the person that really loved her the most in the world. She meant the world to him and I think he wanted to go alone to fight Pain not only to protect Konoha, but to show Tsunade that he was really worthy and not just a perverted old man.



They both would have been a lot happier in life if they happened to be together. Even when he was a pervert and she was an alcoholic gambler... I think they were the perfect match. After all, the old Sage died frozen in time, yearning forbidden wishes.

On a more serious note, one of the running theme's in Naruto seems to be that nice guys finish last, and girls go wet for the douches... Which, for a change considering we're talking of orange-clothed ninja protagonists who go through a world of bloodshed without killing anyone, goes just as in real life.

We have Sakura and Naruto, Jiraya and Tsunade, Obito and Rin... Hell, I wouldn't even be surprised if our current anti-villain, Madara, was actually a fairly nice guy who had the hots for Mito, though she wanted nothing to do with him and was all eyes for Hashirama, who was in fact a complete douchebag (in spite of the good guy rep), which in turn resulted in Madara, who was probably the most powerful ninja since god knows when, deciding to "fix" things in a way that resonated with his power level, that is, rewiring fvcking reality (lol, talk about heartbreak).

I wouldn't put it past him.

Anyways, I don't think Tsunade had any feelings for Jiraya... She probably only said that line about his tough face in order to see if he would rise from the grave... I'm actually wondering how come he didn't.

If anything, I think it's more likely that Sakura will die than marry beta-male Naruto... Which is just fine, really. I wouldn't want leftovers if I were Naruto.

someone do research about some mysterious thing that kishi maybe hide from us
and come with several conclusion which i consider quite true..
ok, here's the deal..before dan kato died, tsunade actually pregnant..n dan didnt know about that..
then, tsunade gave birth and because of too sad about that she left the village and maybe gave her son to other family..
n then she became gambler and alcoholic, in fact she fear of blood..after tsunade left the village, jiraiya takes responsibilty
to take care of dan and tsunade's son..jiraiya act like his foster father and teacher of that son..and that son is minato, yondaime..
if its true, i dont know when kishi will reveal all this thing..minato didnt know his mother is tsunade and naruto will know his actual grandmother is tsunade that will make naruto as a senju clan, n senju clan still exist..but from hear, we all know jiraiya
really concern about tsunade..n take a good care of her son..anyway, it just a rumour..but i hope its true..

I don't feel it could be true since when Tsunade left tthe village she took Shizune with her to raise her like her own child because Shizune was Dan's nephew and Tsunade felt the responsibility to take care of her when she lost her parents... so, why would Tsunade abandon her son to raise Dan's nephew.... very unlikely.

The love Tsunade shared for Jiraiya reminds me a bit of the love Sakura shares for Naruto, maybe it's not prominent now, but it could be later.

Jiraiya loved Tsunade romantically all his life, but I think for the most part Tsunade loved Jiraiya like a sister loves a brother, not romantically but unconditionally.

It seemed like near the end of Jiraiya's life Tsunade was ready to move on from Dan and let herself love again. Even though I believe there would have always been a spark there between the two, it really became relevant to Tsunade near the end. It sucks that nothing will ever come of it though.
