Nah, that thing will have trouble displaying on your monitor. Wow, that's a weak card, maybe it will run it, but on an extremely low setting. Just get yourself a GTX470 or something.
Also, wrong section. ^_^

GTX470 would be good. Be sure you post in the right section, next time.

It's too old...You might still be able to play on very low settings.....But still i would recommend Gtx 660 or amd 7770 or higher

Assassin's Creed 1 and 2 should be fine given you have a good enough CPU and enough Ram aswell.

Re: 8400GS graphic card...
You can always get a gtx 450 or 460. That would run 1 and 2 quite well. If anything just get a 6670 with GDDR5 ram and you can run 3 as well.

if you want a real graphics card, buy an Radeon 5670 HD, i think it's the most powerful cheap video card you can get these days! you need only 70$!

Re: 8400GS graphic card...
In theory, you can run any game you like, without a GPU. Of course, you'd have to disable graphics (completely). However, the game will still run. With an older GPU, such as yours, you can tune the game down, especially using the NVIDIA control panel.
Begin by turning every special filter and reflection/water effects and whatnot completely off. If everything runs fine, exit the game, and turn some settings on (just not water effects, ever). Over time, you will find a balance, where you achieve a reasonable frame rate and resolution. If you step things up too hard for the GPU, then set them back.
