What are you talking about? Terrorist affiliated groups use the poppy to make heroine, then use the money from heroine to fund terrorist activity. Limiting the heroine trade has a way bigger impact on terrorist prevention than anything else. You can't even imagine how many innocent lives are being saved as a result, not to mention the soldiers aren't in combat.

So you're comparing guarding plants to attempted genocide. Well what happens when soldiers burn them fields. The local farmers say, "hey those are my crops. Eff you dude, I'm gonna join the Taliban because you destroyed my income." It's winning of hearts and minds.

It's so easy to focus on one point of negativity and forget about the rest. Most news reports don't mention that even though they are guarding those fields, there's also a movement to teach the local farmers to grow wheat.

US attacked Taliban AFTER it banned poppy. And just a single fatwa from taliban led to 90% destruction of crop within weeks.

Before(10 years ago) NATO was in Afghanistan that country only produced 10% of the world's supply of opium poppy. It now provides 90% of the world's supply of opium poppy. What part of that do people not understand? Are people that ****ing stupid to not realize what's going on?

Nazi didnt start by attempting genocide at the very first day, it grew bolder and more reckless with small incidents like bullying opponent voters . . . . . . . . My point is that to a proper soldier following is most important: Country > Rest of Humanity > Superiors


PS Isnt blowing up opium delivery trucks better than burning the field? More logical.....
