THEORY: Minato has Wind Release
Special Note: Please pay special attention to question #5 & #6.
If you dont agree with me after reading those points, come at me bro :noc:
************************************************** *************************************
...There is no way a normal Kunai is able to completely cut through the 8 Tails tentacle in this manner:

1. According to Karuma, 8 Tails is the 2nd most powerful Bijuu (on a power scale)
2. Killer Bee is a PERFECT Jinchurriki--that was an actual tentacle of the 8 Tails (not a chakra cloak)
3. His son (Naruto) was born with Wind Release, and Nature Types have been known to be passed down genetically.
4. Minato has never been seen using a Nature Type, but all shinobi are born with an affinity for one. Additionally, it was said that Minato created the Rasengan to eventually combine with his Nature Type, but never completed the Jutsu.
5. The only other time in history it was been stated in the manga that tentacles were cut off... it was using a Nature Transformation. 3rd Raikaige and Sasuke both used a form of Lightning Release to accomplish this feat. Kakashi used it too, just on other Bijuu (not the 8 Tails).
AND THESE WERE CONSIDERED IMPRESSIVE FEATS, even using a Nature Transformation.
6. Last but not least. Before Minato cut the 8 Tails Tentacle, he was on top of "A" about to stab him.
"A" was wrapped in lighning release, at FULL POWER (he stated he was at Full Speed when Minato Dodged him).
Do you honestly think that Minato (genius level intelligence) was going to try to ...
cut through "A" Lightning Release Armor using only his kunai?!?!?
So... If Minato DID combine a Nature Release with the Kunai:
A. It couldnt have been using Water Release
B. It couldnt have been using Earth Release
C. It couldnt have been using Fire Release
D. Lighning release is CLEARLY SEEN whenever used
E. Wind Release is OFTEN used in combination with weapons, especially Kunai. It has no properties that would make it "easily Identifiable" because it doesnt "light up" when used like Lightning Release does.
************************************************** ************************************
If you believe he DIDNT use Wind Release in this sinerio, please explain how he was able to cut it that fast and deep off pure reflex combined with NO nature release........

Re: THEORY: Minato has Wind Release
I think he's a water user. Minato means port, and Namikaze means harbor. Kind of a poor theory, but ya know.

Rasengan doesn't have an element. It's just chakra. Wind element can be added to it, but it's not an elemental jutsu.

Re: THEORY: Minato has Wind Release
He could be a wind release. Would be badass if he was able to pull of the Rasenshuriken.
Good thread.

A very good theory! Seems plausible to me.
Wind Release suits Minato, especially because he uses his kunai quite alot.

Re: THEORY: Minato has Wind Release
No that wasnt a wind release. In the anime it was a REGULAR KUNAI STRIKE. You can go watch the episode yourself.
The genuis was going to use a regular kunai to beat A

Most Jounin can manipulate atleast TWO Nature types. So its very possible he could ALSO have water release, but this thread is commenting on what Nature type affinity I think he was born with. And I think he was born with Wind Release (Speed, Reflexes, kunai) especially since Naruto was born with it too. And Water Release would not explain how he was able to cut the 8 Tails Tentacle.

Exactly. And I'm saying that ONE of them he knows is Wind Release, used on Killer Bee.

Well it is a guess. But if it isnt correct...
How do you explain he was able to cut the 8 Tails tentacle so deep and fast with a regular kunai???

Thanks. As a Kage, he would ATLEAST know 2 Nature releases, I'd assume.

Man thats what I'm saying. Everyone is born with an affinity for ONE Nature... his is most likely WIND

Re: THEORY: Minato has Wind Release
Whilst nobody knows what element he has and his name has been played out by fans to argue he has certain elements ill bypass his name all together.
Im not arguing whether minato has wind or not because its unknown. Im however arguing your points about his kunai.
First this is that hirashin kunai's are not the same as normal kunai's. They are heavier and have a wield shape to it. Its very possible that its due to its shape and density along with impact is what allowed him to do what he did and not because of any nature affiliation. Also note something important, which is the hachibi's tail. The hachibi's tails decreases in width when it reaches its end. The part that was cut was near its end which isn't as thick as the middle
Secondly every time, a character has used chakra in conjunction with a weapon its shown. I will not show you all this, i will however show you how a wind infused weapon looks like and compare it with minato's hirashin kunai. Danzo. Asuma.
If it was wind infused though the aim was never the hachibi's tail, it would get through it like how a hot sharp knife gets through butter. All in all its possible he had wind however what you've based it on isn't strong enough

Re: THEORY: Minato has Wind Release
Well if you study Japanese its obvious.
Namikaze:
Nami - Wave or Tidal
Kaze - Wind (Like Kazekage)
Together with Minato(Meaning Harbor) it states: "A harbor with rough seas".
Its a pun with Uzumaki, because Uzu means "Whirlpool"

Okayy.. If wind is not needed for Rasengan then how come Sasuke, Sakura or any other ninja(except Naruto) can't do it? Other jutsu were derived and created by Naruto from Rasengan. That is the full extent of the Rasengan and no one was able to accomplish this, a part from Naruto.

Re: THEORY: Minato has Wind Release
Minato natural element is wind, hence him creating the rasengan which is a wind based jutsu jheesh... However.. although its possible ur may have been able to fuse chakra to his kunai... The (blue) chakra cloak was never shown on them, so I doubt that's actually what he did.

Re: THEORY: Minato has Wind Release
Well never know until Kishimoto confirms it though. It would make sense though seeing how that's Naruto's nature. It also seems like rasangen utilizes wind, even though its not a wind technique. If you think about it you've gotta be able to use wind to create it, and seeing how Minato invented it, it would make sense.

Maybe because they don want to learn it. Jiraiya knows rasengan and his two elements are earth and fire. -_-
Kakashi knows it and his elements are not wind. We havent even seen him use a wind technique.

Rasengan is a wind based jutsu. Chakra is manipulated through the users natural wind element. That was the reason Kakashi chose Jiraiyah to teach him as he was skilled in this discipline. Read back over the mangas you will see that it is.

Rasengan is not a wind technique, it's a condensed ball of chakra, however it utilizes wind. If you think about it, it looks like a big ball of wind. Rasenshurikan is a wind technique however.

Rasengan isn't an element based jutsu..

Re: THEORY: Minato has Wind Release
He surely has an element. But as to what it is will probably remain unknown. His bases his fighting ability purely on speed and quick strikes. Basically a one hit finish.

It's deffinately not. Kakashi wasn't even sure of Naruto's natural element, up until shippuden. So why would he send Naruto to do a technique like that when he's not even sure of his natural element. You should read back over the manga, and then you'll know. He learns this right before destroying Kakuzu.
