Being lost in the forest just added to his frustration as he had spent the whole night trying to figure out to reach his destination.

As excitement filled up his mind, he ran towards the exit.

As Shikamaru watches the man getting hostile, he prepares for any incoming attack.

Suddenly, Shikamaru notices the man summon a large amount of water in front of him that proceeds towards him.
Quickly Shikamaru performs a series of handseals and slams his hands on the ground and creates a large piece of earth to emerge from the ground (about 20 feet) This blocks the incoming water and when it is fully erected, it breaks into two from the middle. The first part falls on his opponent as he is still standing on his water source. The second piece stands as it was erected. Also, as the water is blocked, it clashes against the walls of the earth piece and gets splashed all over his opponent leaving him soaked in water.

The length, width, direction, and curve of the chasm are all up to the user. Manipulating the Dragon Veins requires fine chakra control, but if one has such skill, they can use this technique to divide the space between the enemy and their own team in two, destroy enemy camps or defences, and even to attack.
Note: This does not split the earth appart directly to cause opponents to fall in the fissure.

Now that there is a huge block between the two ninjas, their vision of each other gets hindered. So quickly without wasting a second, Shikamaru makes it rain all over the place.

*kefa gets on the wave and rides it towards his target with his sword already pulled out, as kefa rides he sees a pillar made of rock and kefa immediately knows its and earth jutsu and his opponent has accepted to battle, the earth pillar stands in his way(between him and shikamaru), as kefa gets closer to the pillar, the upper path cracks and falls off coming down on kefa, kefa looks up and puts his word back in its holster and then puts out his hand and forms a lightning wall which destroys the half falling earth pillar and leaving kefa unharmed, kefa pulls out his sword again and focus lightning chakra into it(closer to the pillar thats on the Ground now), kefa then duplicates it making two more, which float next to him, kefa then make the swords spin and kefa then sends the two spinning lightning based swords towards the pillar as he rides the water behind them, one the swords hit the pillar and cut it off from the Ground and the other sword divides the pillar which is off the ground into two, making the pillar being chopped and on the floor, kefa emerges closer to his target, then he feels the downpour(the rain) kefa ignores it, kefa gets to his target(you) the wave kefa rides raises shikamaru up to his level and kefa starts slicing shikamaru, giving him plenty minor injuries and also shocking him, since his sword is still fired up by his lightning chakra*

The moment I see you blasting your way through the earth jutsu, I jump back to keep the distance maintained and quickly release a wave of lightening at your water wave. The jutsu being so quick, leaves you no time to react as you had closed in on the distance. The shock leaves you paralysed and unable to move. Ofc, this also makes you lose the control over the waves as they simply flow towards me and drop you to the ground.

The moment I see you you disappearing into water, I know that you've either used an earth technique to hide underground or you've merged with water. So quickly I make my shadows disappear and slam my hands on the ground to create a spiralling swamp under your feet. The swamp is 3 meters in diameter. The depth of this swamp is so huge that gamabunta can easily fit in lengthwise. As the swamp spirals in itself, it takes in all the water on to of the earth as it mixes with it.

As I'm walking away from you, I see you spitting out water from your mouth to get out of the swamp, I quickly perform some handseals and create 16 pillars of earth that emerge from all around you. Once erected, they all give out bolts of lightening that paralyses you as you're in contact with water.

It is often used after Earth Release: Mud Fall to cover the enemy target in mud and then follow up with using Fire release: Firing Biscuit, creating flames in the oven to roast and harden the mud, immobilizing the enemy.

I fall back to mid-range ,somewhat being washed by your water cuz it spreads everywhere.

Noticing that his opponent is paralysed, Shikamaru walks towards him. Having the option of killing him for having wasted his precious time, he decides not to......cuz it would mean he'll have to waste more energy which he doesn't want to.
So Shikamaru leaves him un that condition.
