I've been asking the same thing... i don't know. Maybe it has to do with the fact that Obito and Kakashi still have 1 sharingan left or something else... Or maybe Kishi gave Tobi the ability to slip through things and when he decided that it is going to be Obito he just said it was MS.. because there are 2376285625624 forms of MS and EMS so why not make 1 more xD

Just imagine if obito had been able to keep both his eyes and one eye let him become intangible and the other he could warp things away from a distance like kakashi. He would be very OP lol. Well thankfully he didn't cause then there would be even more threads saying he is stronger than everyone

Kishi had to put Obito and Kakashi on the same level so they would eventually fight in the future. So he used the eyes to link them and give them special abilities that nobody else had. Thus sealing their fates.
