Why did Kakashi kill Rin.

We know that kakashi and obito awakened their mangekyou, when kakashi killed rin with his own hands, and that is how obito became tobi, but why did kakashi kill Rin?

Kakashi probably had a very good reason for doing it and I'm guessing by the shock on his face when he noticed she was on the receiving end of his Chidori, that he did NOT mean to kill her. I am guessing a mind transfer technique was used or a form of Genjutsu...or something a long those lines.

The mist ANBU might of placed some kind of kamikaze jutsu on her so she would destroy the Leaf when she returned home. The only way to undo the jutsu was her death so Kakashi killed in case he was killed in the battle they were currently in when Obito showed up. Thats also why they wanted to get her body so nobody could find out about the kamikaze jutsu they place on her.

There was no form of facial expression from kakashi that shows he was shocked. He knew full well who was on the recieving end, which is why he started to cry, he knew what he was doing.
