Guessing someone thing in her past made her change her ways for the moment, or something like that.

Watch it be something like Unohana was so good at killing, that she even injured her allies, so she bought up healing since noone else could, and dropped the Kenpachi once another one good at killing came along.

I hope she teaches Kenpachi to release his Bankai, then heal his Shikai.

the least expected?...not really, if someone told me there was 1st Kenpachi in current Captains, than it Unohana would be an obvious choice O__O i mean, Jushiro and Shunsui were students of Yama-jii, Soi Fon too young, Shinji and other Vizards are not that epic, Mayuri? not a chance, Toshiro too young, Komamura doesn't fit at all, Byakuya is Kuchiki and too young at that as well, and Zaraki can't be firest Kenpachi obviously ; Unohana fits the best as everyone is scared of her, and she is most likely 1 of the original Gotei 13 Captains as many think (and hope)

when i read thet unohana is first kenpachi my brain exploded it was holy shit and i was so happy cuz they will teach zaraki to be a bloodthirsty killer even more,he will become so powerful
