In my opinion the most intelligent member is Nico Robin. She has extensive knowledge of history and current issues. Also she is a keen observer and strategist.

Benn Beckman was first, Nami 2nd and captain Kuro third (possible Kuro was 2nd and Nami third, though I think it was the opposite). So Oda himself stated that any of the Strawhats who were already part of the crew before they entered the Grand Line are less 'intelligent' than Nami.

Then adding the ones who joined in the Grand Line I still would say Nami. Yes Robin is very knowledgeable bookwise and probably knows the most about stuff like history, however likewise Franky is a 'genius' when it comes to crafting things and Chopper is a freaking blue-nosed human reindeer hybrid and one of the best doctors in the world. So overall intelligence I still go for Nami and Robin 2nd.

You got some good points, but I disagree when you give Robin second place only. Nami is smart and intelligent indeed, but I can only think of her skills as a navigator, knowledge of the weather, and experience as a thief/pirate in the past when it comes to that.

On the other hand, Robin has shown to be more intelligent when it comes to attitude and words, and even the aura she gives off. She enjoys studying about things that interest her, and one of them is history. She also became the youngest archaeologist on Ohara.

We can also come to the conclusion that these two are equally intelligent, but I would personally switch those two, and give Robin first place while Nami second.

I would have to agree the last post, everyone is smartest in their own field. But if you mean IQ...Robin, followed by Chopper. Robin is more than just a trained archeologist...but an assasin and one of the major figures in Baroque Works; she is intelligent, practical, understands human nature, and has common sense. Chopper has intelligence, but he lacks the common sense and practical knowledge because of his upbringing....which makes him naive and easy to confuse. Franky would be next, but I don't think he has the personality for very much common sense. Then Nami, not only is she intelligent but she has more common sense than most of the others. Then, I hate to say, Luffy; he has no common sense so he seems stupid, but he instinictually understands a lot of stuff. People listen to what he has to say and often does what he tells them to, otherwise I cant see the SH listening to him and taking his words to heart like they do. Ussop, Sanji and Brook are about even, and Zoro last...Sorry.
Intelligence and common sense are two different things. Both my brother and I are intelligent, my sister is not(but she is LOADED with common sense) but when I need advise...I go to her. Like on the TV show Bones....the two main characters Both and Brennen, among others. Maybe because I know where I am lacking I don't consider intelligence that high a requirement...depends on what their job is.

I would say Nami is the most intelligent of the crew, Nico Robin second and the third probably goes to Usopp. We've seen countless times in the anime where Nami has the role of the strategist, even in a recent episode wheee she created the plan for retrieving Panz Fry, which was successful since she also worked with several possibilities including Luffy not going along with the plan.
