I really think at least one member of team 7 will die, and something needs to happen to get Naruto to take the fight against Sasuke seriously. If he watches Sasuke kill Sakura right in front of him, it will finally dawn on the naive Naruto that war is hell and that Sasuke is serious business. He can't just magically become Hokage and save Sasuke that easily.
