      Well, they have some ties to the war. I think it was an attempt at explaining how kabuto was able to the Edo tensei at such a huge scale, because he certainly doesn't have the chakra for it.

      Actually they do. What you see in the filler episodes happened before the war. Do you see Kabuto in the girly looking body ? Well, that was his body befor the war started.
