but obito got actual manga/screen time and everyone knew the kakashi gaiden was shown for more reason than just a back story or else he would have just got a flash back..... izuna is a nobody and i don't see what he could contribute to this war

i never thought that about Obito i thought that about Rin but when i read the chapters on Obito's "death" i just had a feeling there was more to it but with Izuna it's fairly obvious

To say kishi didn't forget about him implies he has plans for the character.When did he ever mention izuna other then when he divulges on madara's history ? Never.Izuna has never been or never will be a focal point of the story.You should classify this a theory.
And not as something that is suppose to come off as apparent.

What the hell is the deal with people's obsessions for Izuna?
The guy was shown once in Madara's backstory, he's not important, he's dead, get over yourselfs!!

Izuna's only purpose is pretty much directed to Madara and how he obtained the EMS and his hatred. His brother died for no reason in Madara's eyes. If you remember, Izuna gave his eyes to Madara so that he could fight on and win the war with the Senju but right after Izuna died the Senju wanted a peace pact and the majority of the Uchiha's agreed on it betraying Madara. So Madara had no choice but to agree but over time his hatred only grew because of his brother's death being meaningless and blah blah blah, we know the rest after that.

This can be a point that Izuna being one of "them". The same thing happened with Obito and Kakashi.
But the second line onwards of your theory doesn't make any sense.

Umm there's one problem... Izuna died before the foundation of Konoha, he knows nothing about it.

Hmmm, I'm also doubting about Izuna being that important. I would at least like Madara to admit that he stole his eyes rather than Izuna gave them to him. Of course maybe Izuna did give willingly but I doubt that, seeing Madara is pretty power hungry.

I kind of agree with you. So many people from the past have been coming back. And Izuna is the only one who has been in a similar position to Itachi with the whole, sacrificing everything for his brother and clan, etc. So that would account for him knowing how it feels to be Itachi.
My problem with the theory is he did it for the clan, not a village that he didn`t care about...although if he did do it for peace with the Senju`s I guess that`s similar. But yeah, as celebrei says, he knows nothing about the foundation of Konoha. Still, people thought age differences and crap with Obito were impossible. I`m pretty sure Kishimoto can make anything in the narutoverse possible, including Sasuke having figured out something about Izuna`s past that we haven`t.
The other alternative could be Itachi`s dead friend who sacrificed himself for the village. After all, we JUST saw him in a flashback from Itachi before he died. Could be foreshadowing and that guy would be fresh in Sasuke`s mind.
I`m guessing Sarutobi is out of the question? He sacrificed too and knew everything about the Uchiha situation...then again...so did the elders so that`s unlikely.
