Black Lagoon.
I finished it and one of the protagonists is one BAMF.

I loved everything of it.
The gun shootouts are epic.
I loveRevy
the animation is perfect.
Ginji was one badass swordsman.
When Roberta's Bloodhound instincts take over she IS ONE CRAZY MOFO, i absolutely loved the 3rd season/OVA.

To top it all off there were no supernatural powers!! just gunskill. im kind of bored of supernatural powers at the moment
is there any anime like black lagoon? where every episode becomes epic?

Maybe Hajime No Ippo? It is a boxing anime and pretty entertaining. I'm not sure how you would feel about it however.

Mirai Nikki is one of the most amazing anime I have seen. It has a touch of super natural powers but doesn't imply them as deeply as most others. If you like DeathNote you will absolutely love Mirai Nikki.

It is a good series, Revy and/or Roberta being the most badass female characters I've stumbled upon yet still!

If you want something similar... I actually can't think of any!
You could check out 'Darker than Black', it's a good anime with epic fighting scenes, supernatural powers though. First season is still worth it though! Promise!

TriGun indeed has superpowers.

Zoids its fighting in big animal robots. Just weapons and no spuerpowers

Yea it did seem like almost all of the characters needed a sit down with Dr.Phil but as you said it really was a great series.
