My firewall got prevent me from using the internet, please help anyone?

Hi

I am a noob when it comes to pcs I acquired a mcafee antivirus software, that was from the university I go to And after that and a deep virus scan, I could no longer use internet explorer or MSN messenger I uninstalled them and downloaded them again, shut down-turn on my PC thousands times, but nothing is working I keep getting a message that something needs to be done with my fire wall and HTTP, HTTPS, and FTP ports

Recommendations any of you?

Ok On Your Buttom Right Corner Click On The Fire Wall Program And Disable It

Im assuming you're running on windows vista...but if you want to let programs through your firewall, you should go to control panel, security centre, then you click "allow a program through firewall". You should then scroll down the "exceptions" list and tick the boxes of the program you want to be allowed through your firewall. =]
