Why should we participate?
I understand that for many of you people that writing is probably not a normal hobby or enjoyment, much unlike myself. However, as I've said many times, as ninjas, we need a reason, a purpose as to why we fight. Our RP, in its current state, is simply unacceptable. (Herpa derp, I use this jutsu and that and then add a bit of dialogue in it! That's called RP! Hell no, that's not RP, that's just plain text!) Frankly put, if everyone simply walked up to one another and then started attacking each other, wouldn't the world be in chaos?
There's a reason for everything. All of you have bios, characters that perhaps you're proud of and enjoy very much to a certain degree. Then, what is the point, if you can't be your character, act him or her out, and take his or her motivations or intentions as your own?
So, this is the purpose of the NW events. I understand that many of you may not enjoy such writing or even bother to read it, but bear with us first as we manage to create an enjoyable, yet RP-fulfilling environment where one could truly be their character and learn to appreciate writing and RP. This first event is simply in beta testing, so if there are any comments, suggestions, or ideas to improve it, Blizzard, as well as me, would greatly appreciate it.
Also, one last thing. I know you may not benefit out of this the way you guys would like to, but in the future, to keep this enjoyable and such, perhaps small prizes could be handed out, not in such a way to make your character "OP" or stack abilities or such (which, by the way, if you could OHKO everyone, what is the point in being OP in the end anyways?) but something enjoyable, such as me writing a short story in dedication to your efforts, or perhaps, a spot in learning my rather troll CJ, Facepalm.
But the point here, is to keep RP truly the way it is, so I hope everyone gets the most fun out of the event! I do read every single post, by the way.

Re: Why should we participate?
People drop bios too frequently and never really explore their characters, NW events would definitely work as a good addition to counteracting this.
Again, props to Blizzard for the suggestion

Re: Why should we participate?
True._. Most of us who RP here on NB do not bother reading posts in a thread. We just read the first and the last posts and make our post; which most times is just OP(opposite) to what's going on in the thread.

The problem with RPing the way you want to do it isn't really the people itself, but the way the RP was brought up. Sure it's developed from "i use x" to writing a bit more with some dialogue and now to try this, but that's the problem as I see it. People aren't willing to try out new things, and won't reciprocate writing a lengthy story for the sake of roleplaying. If there's a reason for doing it, someone's being a traitor, you just get randomly attacked for no reason or whatever, then why not write it? It makes it far more enjoyable to read than blah.
Also I believe I am credited your customs, seeing as you used me as an example. :3

Re: Why should we participate?
I read everything too. I was enjoying it until very recently. It was established that Konoha gets 3 jutsus/turns before the Mandrake attacks. The Mandrake explode people in the front lines and there's already 3 posts, that didn't even try to block the attack, not to mention only one of it actually acknowledged the fact the Mandrake attacked. Three of your companions were in risk of taking a hit from an originally S ranked technique, which is upped quite a bit as it was used by a Boss character, but still, no one tried to help them.
If you weren't able to enter your introduction in time, at least wait till it's okay to enter, or post the introduction and an attack in the same post.

If people aren't going to write detailed posts, then they should confines themselves to the Ninja World or more appropriately, the Battle Arena. One of the main points of this is to encourage story writing within your posts, to actually actively Roleplay and not just RP, the difference here being one is actually playing out a role whereas the other is used to sum up the battle arena/NW antics.

I was waiting for other members of my team to post their entry
Cuz it wouldn't be good to see only 3 Konoha ninjas vs mandrake in the whole battle

At bold, don't generalize. I started Rping here about 1 year and 9 months ago, and i've only ever made 3 bios. 0_0
I always read the whole thread before posting. I was like lili said going to post my introduction and defend from the mandrake, but then saw that three people already posted. As such i'm still waiting for an opportune moment to join in.

You can still post, you just can't direct any attacks until the Mandrake posts.

Re: Why should we participate?
I haven't joined in with this thus far as I wasn't available when sign ups took place originally, but taking the time to read this now I'm excited by the prospect of actually being able to see the members of the bases writing skills as opposed to their battle skills, When I first joined NB I was confined mainly to Konoha Town and shortly after my joining I began receiving messages from many of my companions expressing their delight at my contributions to their stories, I was really the only one who would give the detail and expression that such stories need in order to really feel alive. Check any of my introductory posts in Konoha Town threads to see what I mean. But enough about me, I am a wannabe novelist and an avid reader in my spare time, when I read a post and am able to truly feel the emotion of the character and understand fully what effects the events leading up to this point have had on the character, that is what makes me want to stay here. Not the prospect of learning new jutsu. Not the satisfaction of winning (which by the way is a joy). But the way you feel inside when a piece of writing truly touches your heart, or even better, when you are able to write something which relates to someone and inspires them to try new things. With the prospect of this happening more and more often on this site, I thank you Blizzard and Kiritsugu and all involved for understanding the true meaning of RP. When your next event begins you can be sure I'll be there, and you can be sure that I'll be not just reading, but feeling every post. And above all, you can be sure that I will be trying my utmost to give you my best and help this idea succeed.
I apologise if none of that was truly relevant I just wanted you to know that I think what you're doing here is a great idea. ^^
Much love.
Also, sorry this is so late xD

Re: Why should we participate?
You probably listed the reason that I stopped RPing, with of course a few other reasons <_< (Which you know) But without much of a story and posting the same techniques over and over most battles I take part in hardly ever end. People just play around and once they get cornered the unleash a bunch of OP stuff. There is no "outplaying" in our RP, there are rarely underdog stories, where a more skilled RPer with access to less techniques will beat a RPer with a ton of OP stuff. So basically the reason I stopped RPing was the lack of story, the inability to counter a few custom techniques with cannon techniques and some Real Life reasons. If there would be a story I probably would come back to RP and I'd do this without prizes for myself simply because being able to Role Play would be satisfactory enough : >
