Alright, I'm going to speak what is much more likely: People like Hinata because they wish they had someone like her in their life.
That's right. They wish that they could have a girl who would stick by them, had some nice physical attributes. A girl was shy and not outspoken, yet strong enough to state her opinion occasionally. A girl who would keep trying to gain their love, even defending him and publicly stating she loves him. Other things too.
Sure, some like her because of her personality, some because of her place in the Hyuuga lineage. Many because she stood by Naruto, while the alternative, Sakura didn't (that's right, many probably wouldn't like Hinata if it wasn't for Sakura; the masses thirst for romance, and she's the better option!). Other reasons as well, but I think the primary is that they want someone like her in their life. Just sayin'.

Idiots, it's clearly stated in wiki what their jutsu is. Even if it was a 'filler' and why would she heal neji, it was clearly too late for him. I didn't see Sakura trying to do sh*t for Neji. she just stood on the background doing what? nothing.

Well, this will be nice for a report.
And for your reference, read more the manga, eventually the databooks and stop relying on fillers.

I love Sakura. Huge fan and I love Hinata as well.

See, to people Sakura is selfish. But then. Isn't everyone? She is not the most selfish character in Naruto, that would be near enough Danzo. In the beginning of Naruto her obsession and being a fangirl of Sasuke can make people immediatly dislike her. I was one of them people . . . but . . . they don't seem to realize she actually isn't a fangirl of Sasuke in upcoming manga/Anime. She fell in love with him and when he was leaving the village, to me, Sakura acted like any woman would if someone they loved left them.

In Shippuden she still loves Sasuke clearly but you hardly see her talking of him anymore. It pains her really. She is more focused on helping Naruto in anyway possible.

She is realistic, and because of that people found her annoying and being harsh to Naruto of him becoming an Hokage and found him stupid. I'm sure anyone would find the person silly saying they were one day going to be the President of the United States, and who was a troublemaker and was having a bad reputation.

Others say she doesn't have much development. No longer a fangirl. Hardly talks of Sasuke. Try's to help Naruto. TRIED to kill Sasuke . . . Sakura has changed. Not much development but has changed and now being proved by Naruto . . . She believes he will one day become hokage. She knows he is strong. Still likes to hit him now and then, some find it funny others find it annoying. But to her being tough gets through to Naruto really. She is just short tempered =w=

And she is strong with strength. Not much people say she is strong but I think she is. Just in Shippuden she has now become less . . . important and is just there. This is where Hinata steps in.

Hinata became an important role, has more interesting background than Sakura. A shy cautious girl who developed into a young woman who is fighting her way through to be with Naruto and is overcoming her shyness. I love Hinata. She is inspiring. Lot of boys may like a shy girl who wouldn't hit them now and then for something they did wrong. She saved Naruto and defended him from Pein. Sakura was just on her knees. Begging for Naruto.

That's a dislike of Sakura from me, she COULD OF done something. But only crying for him and Hinata risked her life for him. So in desperate times she can be strong, have the courage to fight for her loved ones. Sakura . . . she needs improvement on that and not be so emotional.

Hinata isn't selfish. I think she is fully aware of Naruto's feelings to Sakura and wouldn't step in the way. I love and feel sad for her of that. I support NaruHina with all my heart. I say they will one day make it and I pray they do. How can Naruto not love the girl? I would love to see his view on loving Sakura. To me, I think sasusaku may happen. MAYBE....but probably not.

So Hinata is kind, generous and all the loving things. How anyone can dislike Hinata I do not get it.

Disliking Sakura I can see but I love her either way.

I don't necessarily think people hate Sakura and love Hinata, it goes both ways for sure, personally I think Sakura is a better character overall. Sakura has a personality and importance in the story aside from just being a medical ninja. Hinata's role up until this point has been very minuscule, she hardly had a personality outside of her obsession with Naruto. However now we are beginning to see her character flourish a bit more, which is an excellent move by Kishi in my opinion. I like the direction Hinata's character is heading in after the last few manga releases, she's taking on a new role, my hope is she's not the only one.

OK, I will ignore all the crap about Sakura in this thread. She doesn't belong here adn the fact that this thread suddenly transcended to her proves my point to come. Most of the people that Sakura fans consider Hinata fans, are in fact not Hinata fans at all. The are just Sakura fans/Hinata>Sakura people. These people are simply confused (Can't find a better word without breaking forum regulations), they think that being a fan of a character or person has anything to do with anything or anyone else then said character/person. I for example really likes Hinata as a character but that doesn't force me to dislike Sasuke or make me obliged to start idiotic hate threads about him.

Now that I've explained what being a fan is I'll also go more into WHY I am a fan of Hinata, a few of these things have been mentioned but I'll summarize my own personal thoughts about the character.

-Hinata is a lot like Naruto except that she has no plot advantages when the show begins. She doesn't have the fox and therefor shit loads of chakra to wield.
-She doesn't have the incredible uzumaki resilience.
-She has the byakugan but she isn't very skilled at using it and untill now it's admittedly the weakest visual jutsu presented even though it's better then nothing.

While there are other characters who hasn't acheived much, Hinata has Never acheived anything. SHe hasn't beat a single shinobi that we witnessed. She's done a few very importnant things in pain arch and last chapter. But she has never even played a part in defeating anyone of significance. So what has she actually been doing?

She has a sidestory that even though not the greatest it's at least one of the better sidestories imo. we've got to realise why she's so insecure, why she looks up to Naruto and why she's had a strained relationship with Neji.
She had a part from Rock Lee's fight the most interesting moment in chuunin exams, at least in my opinion. The young weakest link of k12 standing up to perhaps the most powerful gennin of the leaf, and to add to that her cousin. And this is a keymoment. This is where we learned that she can be determined and persistent when inspired. Just like Naruto.
Then she fades away for a while untill the character blossoms in the pain arc. And this isn't JUST about defending Naruto and falling flat on her face. This is where her character changes, she didn't do this to save Naruto and sacrifice herself. She did this because she WANTED to. even though it was stupid, even though the hyuuga guy told her not to. Even though her father would most likely not be pleased by that move if he were there, she did it. And she did it for herself because SHE wanted Naruto to live. The 4:th shinobi arc is just follow up from this change imo.

So now I've said what she's done but I've actually not said why people like her yet. Well some guy above said it has to do with the fact that guys want someone like her in their life, this is most likely true, I wouldn't say no to that as a character trait. But I also think that most people have a shy side, an insecure side. A side of themselves that are holding back, and this makes her easy to relate to. I think that is what many people are impressed by with Hinata that she grows as much as she does just by determination. Naruto is another example, he starts out weak and grows stronger by determination.

The only difference is that Naruto has made physical growth (mostly) and Hinata's made spiritual growth. Also Naruto's received some aid through his lineage and the fox where Hinata's received some aid thorugh Naruto.

So I hope this a looong ramble at least helps to clear out why people like Hinata, and that some people who says so are not actually Hinata fans, and if it doesn't I've only slept for 2 hours tonight so no hate!

Note: I've said that Hinata resembles Naruto as a character a lot, and the reason I prefer Hinata over Naruto is simple. Naruto is a moron, he his the brainpower of a wooden log and is best used as a kawarimi. This also means that I'm not really a Naruhina fan as well even though I guess I'd prefer it but more since Hinata seems to have made up her mind and I think Hinata is one of those characters that I wish an happy ending for.

uhm...I think they're both nice..but the story is just written in such a way that Naruto has to end up with hinata...otherwise he'll look like a douche...she has loved him from the start...like superman...Sakura is Lana Lang and Hinata is Lois Lane.

Anyway, I also said that there are several reasons; I even specifically mentioned, like you, that some people "like Hinata" because in reality they dislike Sakura. If I was to restate my positions, people "like Hinata so much" because:

-They want someone like her in their life.
-Physical attraction to her, despite the fact she doesn't exist.
-They dislike Sakura, and they believe it's Sakura vs Hinata.
-They desire romance, and think her to be the best option, and therefore say the like Hinata just because of that.
-Naruto/Hinata hype

and other stuff but i'd say those are the main.

to me i say sakura is one those people who will go with most popular person to further there popularity. sasuke most popular loved him then when naruto hero oh wait i love u stop goin after sasuke. wtf girl now that narutos popular u love him but before u hated him wtf up with that.

that why i chose hinata she always cared for naruto was true to her feelings. were strong willed and never gave up on her dreams. she didnt do anythin to be top or popular and was just who she wanted to be herself.
