Why does everyone like Hinata so much?

People like Hinata because of these reasons:

She makes a better heroine than Sakura because of her backstory, Kekkai Genkai, and her Clan's relation to the So6P.
She has always loved Naruto before he was kicking ass and going nine-tails on the enemies asses, something people praise her for.
She has a better body than Sakura and places a bigger role than her and she is stronger than Sakura.

That's all I can think of.

Stronger? Nah. Her hand to Hand combat may be superior to Sakura's but Hinata is not stronger.

They're both in love with a guy, the difference is that Sakura expresses her true feelings. While Hinata doesnt really do that.

This is only a few but it proves enough that Hinata did express her true feeling ls for naruto I was neutral in the naruhina narusaku debate but once I looked into which actions were significant I became a naruhina supporter but that doesn't mean I hate Sakura because that is the farthest thing from true for me but Hinata is meant for Naruto

Its because she actually has an interesting backstory, is part of the Hyuuga clan and not loud and obnoxious like Sakura. Don't get me wrong though I like Sakura, but it is understandable why people dislike her.

The one thing dragging hinata down is her unrealistic obsession with Naruto(Every one of her lines involves Naruto for crying out loud), its kind of creepy and a bit sexist on kishimotos part.

Right. Anyway, to respond to your OP, it differs with gender.

Most of her female fans like that she's soft-spoken, yet has been building confidence and has never been shallow as Sakura was in the very beginning. She's been in love with Naruto from day one and has never changed her mind about that.

Most of her male fans probably like her appearance, yes, but most likely they think her shy nature is cute. Plus, she has more combat potential than Sakura with her Byakugan.

In general, I'd say her backstory is also much better than Sakura's non-existent one. Those are roughly, what I think, to be the main reasons.

Yeah, but that doesnt mean that girls are jealous of her. There's a lot of women out there who has Respect, but is the complete opposite of Hinata.

I prefer Tenten, especially after watching Rock Lee's Springtime Of Youth. But anyway, the reason why everyone seems to like Hinata is that they prefer her over Sakura and since theres a large amount of hatred for sakura, in comparison Hinata looks amazing. Although some people on the forums genuinely like Hinata. Personally my favourite characters are Shikamaru and Rock Lee and even though i'm for NaruHina I don't like Hinata that much, just believe they'd be a better couple.

Since everything around here has been about disliking Sakura. I've decided to make a thread like this.
I wonder myself why everyone likes her so much.

So why? What is it about her that's so special?

It will vary from person to person (as I'm sure is demonstrated by the many posts before mine), but I will try to give a few that I see.

One of the main reasons, I feel, is her affinity toward Naruto (the main character of the series). It makes her almost instantly likable in a world where the main character of the series was unanimously disliked and considered a waste of proteins. Even if we find ourselves annoyed with Naruto - the fact that she shows interest in him is enough to add an extra dimension to her character.

Further, of all the Rookie Nine, she's second only to Naruto and Sasuke (who are tied for 1st) in terms of how much is known about their past and family. This dynamic makes her far more identifiable to most; not that everyone feels they share her past, but that everyone can compare/contrast their upbringing to hers.

In this, she is one of the few true characters in Naruto. Many of the other characters lack depth and history that make them identifiable as a 'real' character. We know more about Sasori's childhood than Sakura's (and she was sort of designed as the lead female). Obito has more back-story than Rock Lee. Kurenai's baby has an equal amount of historical development as Tenten.

Hinata is portrayed more completely than most of the other characters in the series (even though we hardly ever see her), and that character is intrinsically close to Naruto.

The only reasons I've seen people give for not liking Hinata are more to do with her hesitancy and her borderline stalker behavior (which was only portrayed a couple times in her childhood). Or they find her crush on him to be obsessive.

To be fair, people have seen much more of Sakura in a wider range of contexts to be more critical of her behavior (and develop a dislike for the trends) - but Hinata's character is just not one that people develop a dislike for in the real world. People tend to develop dislikes for those who represent an obstacle or burden - and Hinata's character just doesn't lend itself to that perception.

Though I will admit, as a guy, I find Hinata to be one of the most attractive characters in the series. She's got the curves, the tone, and the long hair. The jacket/hoodie-thing is there as a countermeasure against stares. One can throw up their supposed ages in protest, but she'd be worth waiting for.
