because as sasuke stated in the valley of the end to Naruto. he didn't understand him at all because he had no idea what it's like to lose the people close to him, he was alone from the start. this death aloud nartuo to feel the type of pain sasuke had, and shows that he would deal with it in a different way. also the pain cause him to grow up and become much stronger more quickly than he would of before.
