Madara said he supposedly slipped right through the rocks. This seems quite similar to his phasing ability even though he had yet to unlock the MS. Two things can be concluded IMO..

1) Madara was deceiving him
2) Obito did indeed use his phasing ability

Now #1 doesn't seem very likely considering Madara's exact words. He showed more disbelief than actually coming up with a scientific hypothesis for it. Why wouldn't he just tell Obito that he saved him if he did? Not like it would give anything away. He'd literally have to know Obito's future phasing abilities and tell him this beforehand but even that doesn't make sense because as I said, why not just say that he's the one who saved Obito?

As for the second one, it might be possible that like Choji's red pill, the MS simply lets you use MS techniques easier and under extreme conditions one can actually do it with a 2/3T sharingan. This is veryyy farfetched but I don't see another logical way unless somebody else brings it up.
