Sword Art Online
--- Possible Spoilers ---
I just finished watching Sword Art Online... Honestly, although some people say they liked it, just not as much as they had hoped they would, I feel like it was very well put together. The actual storyline of SAO goes on farther than the anime shows, which personally gives me hope for a new season.
Did you guys enjoy the show? What about it did you like? Do you want to see the storyline finished, or do you not care?
In my opinion, I liked how the show was a lot more psychological than most others, it toyed a lot with the fact the restrictions put on the characters and the easily obtainable consequences. It totally screwed with my emotions and my mind o.O

Re: Sword Art Online
The anime started going downhill somewhere around episode 15. It's decent...OK at best maybe.

Re: Sword Art Online
I agree with Youth; the anime would've been legendary if it ended after SOA.
The elements of SOA weren't the same in Alfhiem; it just didn't click to me the same way SOA did. Maybe because it was too cliche of a plot (damsel in distress).
Edit: The only other anime I watched that made me feel the way I did during the SOA arc was Yu yu Hakusho. But of course, men don't cry.

Yeah I thought so too, even when watching the first episode, I felt like It pulled me in quite well, it was exciting from the start. But, it did unfortunately lose it's momentum. But the other problem I have with that fact is that I also feel like the story would've been pretty bad if they ended it there, too. It made it look like there was a lot more to it.

I made a thread about SAO when e anime first started to air, didn't get much attention here on the base. I thought e premise was awesome and was looking forward to the potential future. I of course eventually found out about the light novels, that I have yet to read but sound promising, and could lend to a pretty good anime.

Haha don't worry yuyu hakusho aired back when most base members were probably in their diapers or not even born yet, but if you get the chance you should definitely check it out.

Angel beats made me cry. That series had the saddest character back stories. And the music was so beautiful. My Song sang by the character Iwasawa was so beautiful...

It's not bad, but it's not good either. That's like saying idk about gundam or original Pokemon.

I think it's just a cool idea all together, considering what's happening in the show is completely plausible (from what I know, at least)... And the firm grasp they have on making 12 years into the future not TOO futuristic, and the way the show is a lot more mind games is quite cool to me.

SAO was on one of the most popular anime in 2012 (in Japan). So, it'll definitely get another season.
Fyi, I've read all the translated novels. And I gotta say, they are awesome! Heaps better than the anime series, imo.

Re: Sword Art Online
I had fun with SAO. It wasn't perfect by any means but I certainly enjoyed it. The characters weren't that complex but they were likeable imo and the interactions were really good, especially in the emotional scenes. Not to mention the cool fights and the overall awesomeness of the style and premise itself. I had a pretty good time keeping up with it week after week and I don't regret watching it.
But it does have problems though. Namely episode 14, which was incredibly rushed and forced, ruining any hope of an awesome conclusion to the SAO arc and that bugged me more than anything else on this show. Plus it was hard to get that attached to the cast since the female lead switched with the arcs and the characters didn't get nearly as much development as they should have.
Overall though I did like it and in spite of its flaws it was definitely something I enjoyed in the long run. I do prefer Accel World (another somewhat similar story by the same author) but it wasn't "bad" in my opinion, just a bit flawed.

Everyone says this. The ending wasn't rushed *talking about both acrs*. It's how it happened in the novels, if you go and read them, you'd realize.

Re: Sword Art Online
My favorite girl would have to be kanade. The best episode was the one that showed yuri's story. I cried. It was awful, yet good. Or maybe otanashi's story was my fav... Idk

Re: Sword Art Online
Yeah there's not all that much you can squeeze out of a short story arc into only 25 episodes though... I do feel like it has the potential to be at least twice as long, without getting into a "Kirito - The hero boy who saves people inside virtual mmo's!" story... Althought, it would be quite cool to see him travelling and adventuring through a bunch of worlds on a quest to do 1 thing, or something like that- I don't feel like they emphasized as much of the whole "World Seed" thing as they should've.

If I could rep you again, I would. The light novels are amazing. Not to mention that they have more "episodes" inn SAO than the anime did

If you get rid of Kirito, you lose the story. The whole series is his life.

Re: Sword Art Online
I know, I'm just saying it would be tough to expand on a story like this, after awhile it would get really repetitive. The only real way to expand more would be to introduce some sort of new problem (possibly something else one of the villains was doing outside of the VRMMO, or something)
