Just how powerful was Hashirama?

Because the manga puts him above several of our current top shinobi/kunoichi

DSM Kabuto outright admits that he is inferior to Hashirama. This can also be used to say that EMS Sasuke, BM/KCM Naruto, and Obito are all inferior to Hashirama; however, it's all how you interpret it.


Edo Madara considers the Five Kage's combined efforts as nothing compared to Hashirama.


Edo Madara calls BM Naruto, Killer Bee, Gai, and Kakashi a half-assed band of ninja, yet he calls Hashirama the ultimate shinobi. That puts him above them, does it not?

After reading this, just how powerful was he?

Hes just trying to play with their self-confidence, saying that he fought the most powerful shinobi besides the so6p so that they would give up on him. In reality, they are fighting a very suped-up version of madara with the ability to use rinnegan and mokuton techniques on a higher scale that the original users because of his edo tensei body that grants unlimited chakra and regeneration. Basically he's taunting them simply because he knows that he is practically invincible and is just toying with them.

Hashirama was definitely one of the most powerful shinobi. Being a hokage he was able to master all forms of combat, helped contribute to a list of kinjutsu, use medical ninjutsu on par with Tsunade and was even able to tame tailed beasts as a user of the ultra-rare KKG, mokuton. The only thing he was noted not to have on his side was speed, being considered, "slow, but powerful". All-in-all, he was a very powerful shinobi who deserved the title of hokage.

If he didnt have tailed beasts at his command, he would be a match for almost any kage today.

Though Hashirama has so much hype, I believe Obito is stronger than him. It's too farfetched for me to believe he can beat BM Naruto, Killer Bee, Guy, and Kakashi all at once. Kishi needs to expand on his power more.
