Do you think Kankuro, Temari and Neji should get their own squads?

Remember how those three were the only ones to get promoted to jounin? Remember how jounins are the ones who usually have their own squads to lead? Do you think it would have been a good idea for Kishi to give each of them their own squad to lead when Shippuden first started? In this way he could have developed those three characters and show how they improved enough to be full fledged jounin with all sorts of responsibilities and dangerous missions especially when you have to protect the weak. It would also give us more insight on how each of them will lead their own squad, which would increase their own character development (personality wise, maturity and power).

Since Shippuden is almost over and Kishi can't rewrite the manga or go back in time, another option would be to have another arc after the war is finished to wrap up the story and develop some minor characters. In other words, the series would end the same way it once began.

The third option would be to have some fillers instead because most readers don't care about Kankuro, Temari and Neji so they'd get bored and leave the manga.

I think fillers would be great as long as they aren't dumb and not connected to plot

It was filler although I'd personally like to see Temari go on some mission with those kids sort of like how Kakashi did during the Land of Waves Arc. Preferably in the manga but at this point, I doubt it is even possible so this should be done in the anime.

I agree, some of the fillers are kind of idiotic and the ending is usually weak.

I agree with this, hence why only those three were promoted to jounin.

I say Temari would be the best since she is the oldest and most intelligent among the three. She is IMO the most powerful between the three as well.

I think they might by the end of the war arc.. maybe in the epilogue? The main problem is that I doubt there's going to be much character development coming afterwards besides the ending so it would be short lived. Fillers might be the only way out.

Re: Do you think Kankuro, Temari and Neji should get their own squads?

I'd say that Neji and Temari would make the best leaders, though Kankuro would still be pretty good. He was the commander of the ambush squad of course.

I dont know if would have given them any more screentime, but it would have shouwn that they have made more progress than what kishi has given them.

That might be a good idea depending on how long Kishi wants to stretch the manga or if he wants to end it quickly. Yeah I believe fillers will go on for years after the series is over.

    1. I agree because despite Kankuro being a good team leader, he is not good with children as it is hinted in the data book that he hates children and he did bully Konohamaru. Not saying Kankuro isn't powerful, intelligent and a good leader but he will probably refuse to look after a squad and instead take up the role of an elite commander, advisor or puppet maker/trainer.

Part 1 Neji would have made a horrible sensei, he would bully those in his squads who he feels are weak but current Neji would do pretty good. He could have Hanabi in his squad and teach her to master gentle fist.

Temari would probably make the best one because the third data book said that she was a school teacher which means that she has experience teaching kids. She was also Suna's ambassador to Konoha which means she knows how to keep things together so if her three genins start fighting amongst each other, she may have the diplomatic know-how to keep peace in her squad and encourage teamwork. She is also the oldest amongst the three jounin and the wisest as well. Also she proctored the chunin exam along with Shikamaru so she can probably keep her squad in line.

    2. I don't understand what you said in the second sentence. Care to elaborate? From what you said, it seems like if you were Kishi, you would wrap up the manga but if you could develop those characters, you would have done so earlier in Shippuden.

Re: Do you think Kankuro, Temari and Neji should get their own squads?

-Kankuro: I do remember him hating kids in part 1 but then again a lot of the kids have outgrown a lot of their bad traits since then. He was an excellent commander for the ambush squad and his conversation with Sasori showed a lot of growth, particularly about passing something on to the next generation. He might be good with an all puppet squad, but not really a well rounded ninja. I don't think he'd be able teach the basics of tai, nin, and genjutsu.
-Temari: Kinda the same as Kanuro, but then again, most sand ninja tend to be long range specialists anyway, and they probably assign genin to a jonin with a similar skill set. I mean Guy is a teacher despite being a taijutsu specialist. Temari is the oldest and has the best int. feats of the 3, she would make the best leader.
-Neji: I think he would make the best teacher of the 3. He has the more diverse skill set of the 3. Plus he's had the most growth. He would be the best to teach jutsu basics and life lessons considering he knows first hand a lot of hard life lessons. He's also a pretty level head guy, so he's a good leader too.

All together, all of them would be capable of being squad leaders but I think they would be better off still training for a few more years before becoming squad captains. Of course, the best squad leader would always be a reformed Sasuke

Re: Do you think Kankuro, Temari and Neji should get their own squads?

I think they are probably be low-mid level jounin, but that is fine considering they have been promoted relatively recently. They should start getting experience leading their own teams soon. If Kakashi pre-Sharingan at 13 can be Jounin and lead squads, then those 3 should definitely be considered able to be team leaders.

You do realize that being a pupputeer, Kankuro has a wide range arsenal so he is pretty versatile IMO. Also you neglect the fact that the sensei doesn't really need to be an all rounder to teach and take care of his student. Most students develop their own fighting style from others, such as clan or another sensei who is not a squad leader. I never saw Gai, Kakashi or Asuma teach Neji, Tenten, Sakura, Ino or Choji anything. Squad leaders mostly teach the basics such as chakra control, team work, ideals and are in charge of protecting their students which I'm sure these three are up to the task against most ninjas. You got to remember that most ninjas in the Narutoverse aren't even jounin level let alone kage level. The Akatsuki are a rare exception.

Also wouldn't Temari make the best squad leader since she was an academy instructor in her village as well as a diplomat? Neji has his perks too but I don't see what he has putting him as a better squad leader. Perhaps the 360 vision so his squad won't get ambushed.

I'm quite sure these three are much stronger than your ordinary low-mid level jounin. Sure they are no Kakashi or Gai level but bare in mind those two are considered kage levels. Kankuro, Temari and Neji are stronger than the likes of Kurenai, maybe Asuma, Ebisu, maybe part 1 Kakashi, Anko and Shizune.

True but he is even worse when it comes to versatility although he is more intelligent than the three I listed. Still, Kishi doesn't consider him strong enough to become a jounin but there are plenty of jounin he can still beat. Perhaps he should gain his own squad right after these three?

this thread is pretty outdated and now means nothing since Neji is dead. Still Kankuro and Temari should have a bright future waiting for them.
