Lawl, Unfortunately, totsuka doesn't have strongest blade hype, it just states it can seal anything it pierces .. but that doesn't mean it can pierce everything

What type of counters?

For starters, the Wood Clone technique.

Madara said he was the only one ever able to see through the technique, this is overwhelmingly attributed to his EMS abilities. With the technique he can effectively counter the Totsuka Blade, then in turn appear at a distant location from under the ground. This could perhaps give him entrance right into the blind spot of Susano'o - where Itachi himself is present.

I would show scans, but I feel all of this goes without saying. I'll be glad to provide scans if needed.

Also we don't know if yata mirror has any blindspots...Its been shown to change shape and size based on the incoming attack.. so what happens when an underground attack comes?

You should also note just how FAST the shape changing happens.. its practically instant... right before the bombs even exploded, yata mirror expanded in the blink of an eye

Pure speculation, but these items were essentially residing in Itachi's Mangekyō Sharingan under the mechanism, Susano'o. Sasuke has since assimilated Itachi's ocular techniques, so these items may resurface in Sasuke's Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan, and if so, we may get to see their full capabilities.

Susano'o is able to phase through the ground. But that isn't the point. How is Itachi going to get under the ground amidst his attack? Also Susano'o typically has to be either in skeletal form (without the flesh) or a higher iteration in order to utilize the Mirror/Sword (to hold it). Madara was only able to phase under the ground due to the usage of the Wood Clone and the fact that his Susano's arm was only present, not the entire or partial manifestation like Madara's was when he used it against Tsunade (only the arm/rib cage was used).

You're also overlooking the main element that made Wood Clone so deadly - its unpredictability. Remember, Madara said only he was able to anticipate it. Would Itachi know to counter from under the ground? Would Itachi be able to detect it? Is Itachi's Susano'o able to even use the Yata Mirror while being underground?

I don't think it's very much of a toss up analyzing the mechanics of the respective techniques--in fact, if anything the odds are pretty much skewed in favor of Wood Clone.

As it is a manifestation of the user's chakra, the user can choose what part of Susano'o is, and isn't tangible— just enough to truly interact with it's surroundings. It is not capable of phasing like Kamui.

OT: I didn't think it was underrated, I was sure it could take jinton.

I don't really think it's a question as to what it's able to negate, but rather how. I don't doubt it could tank an entire TBB, but when characters like Minato come to mind I think speed would likely be an issue.

Susano'o lacks lateral speed. It isn't completely immobile, but it isn't exactly fast either, much less blinding fast as Minato is. Minato's speed coupled with FTG is essentially instantaneous; the Yata Mirror could not expand in a mere instant, at the speed of light.

Now this isn't an argument as to who's stronger out of Minato and Itachi, the point being is the speed is definitely quite possibly a potential counter to the Yata Mirror (as well as Itachi's Susano'o as he doesn't have the intangibility of Sasuke's Susano'o due to Sasuke's Blaze Release/Enton).

Like I said, I can think of at least a few feasible counters to Yata Mirror. Just very few characters would be able to exercise them - and even fewer currently alive.

Honestly, nothing would happen...Totsuka Blade is a physical weapon as proving in his fight against Orochimaru when Itachi was cutting the heads of the snakes of Orochimaru's when he was in his Eight Branches Technique form....Now as you can see when Itachi was cutting the heads of the snakes there were blood coming from the heads of the snakes and as the OP said and according to the Databook Yata Mirror also protects the user from Physical attacks and paper bombs and kunais are also physical attacks Shinobis use and Yata Mirror displayed it can defend from both of those things when Sasuke throw Kunais with paper bombs right at Itachi and Yata Mirror protected him from it.

Everyone should pay attention to what happens to the snakes once they hit the mirror, they didnt just clash into it, they were sent in another direction, repelled if you may.. as the databook states it does.. Sasuke and his blade was also tossed backwards when he came running in..

I really do wish we could have seen the full extent of the shield
