[Discussion] Why do so many ppl hate the US?

Things I don't like about the USA

1) lousy democracy.
2) embarrassingly bad foreign affairs.
3) hypocrisy.
4) blinding arrogance.
5) worst bread in the world.
6) pitiful educational system. (like really. teachers can't be motivated to teach your next generation. I'm scared)
7) staggering inequality (gender, race, social class, whatever)
8) your constant need to (badly) remake good European (and sometimes Asian) movies.
9) your nauseating pride in yourself even if you didn't accomplish any good.

To be honest, I can't even think of a reason why I would want to live in the US. But there are some things I like.

1) You sometimes produce decent movies.
2) King of Queens.
3) Sometimes you really try to make the world better. Sometimes you succeed, sometimes you fail.

with 'arrogant', I think she refers to the fact that (some) american citizens have a pitiful and misplaced sense of superiority towards other countries.

Can you blame anybody for hating the US? People seem to forget that Honey Boo Boo, Jersey Shore, 16 and Pregnant, Teen Mom and so on are shows from the US!

Personally i have no hatred towards America as it has not given me any particularly strong reason to hate it. But I in a way protest the way they handled the foreign affairs and as not all of the things they did was absolutely necessary and some of them are with outright questionable motives.

It was the Ideals of America's Founding Fathers that inspired our own constitution a lot........ but I m rather amused, bemused and confounded by what i see among American people:
1. Probably the world's Wealthiest but but still not Happiest . . . . .
2. The so called Land of Freedom and Opportunity but still there is discrimination . . . .
3. Probably most technologically advanced with the Greatest Universities ....... but is the home of groups like Flat Earth Society, Geocentric Groups etc
4. Freedom to carry guns for self defense . . . but still more body count from nut case shootouts and what not compared to most Western countries put together.......
5. Another thing i find utterly confusing is that ur country fought two Wars recently and still fighting i think . . . . but STILL many of u complain about Excess taxes (Well the Government too should not play people pleasing tactics when there is a huge economic storm comeing) . . . . War has its Economic burdens people.

. . . . . . These are few of the oddities I find with America..... but perhaps I m too literal about this, the people of America are still human and humans are not flawless. . . .

how is Europe, Africa, South America different from the US? OP, did you even read your post? Because your post is exactly why people hate the US. The US is simply full of too many people who think they're better than everyone else, simply because they are American. What is so great about America? The fact that you pretend to welcome immigrants, but racially profile us all the time? Or how about the fact that you pretend to be so smart, when in reality your school system has been failing for who knows how many years?

The US is a terrible country full of terrible people that will not only never admit it, but also blind themselves the reality of their country.

In all honesty, i dont know much about politics and the antics of my country but it sounds like to me that the US has done many great things for the world as well as some very bad things. I can only imagine that its hard to make the decision thats going to please everyone especially when youre talking about global affairs. As far as peoples generalizations of the people of this country, im seeing a TON of ignorant statements. The Americans being fat thing isnt even worth addressing either.
Edit: It is worth noting that yes, America seems to be on a down-slope of all its morals and beliefs. That being said id still rather live here than anywhere else in the world and im sure many people out there would also if they had the choice. I personally dislike U.S media because they're loaded with stereotypes. Watching Disney Channel makes me want to hurl(except phineas and Ferb) and thinking that children might see these stereotypes as reality is srsly disturbing. European radio stations also like to favoritise US songs (because of the influence, amount, money,..) over songs of the native country.(If I have to hear another F**cking J-lo song, the readio goes flying out the window.) Don't get me wrong tho, There are many US artists that I do like ^^.
Basicly, I hate the stereotyping and small-minded US media, but I don't actually believe the people themselves are all like that. Don't think that I see Europeans as superior r something, we all have our flaws.

Considering I have family over in the US, I don't so much 'hate' on America. It's a nice country, and there are plenty of good people there. However, there is a minority of people living in America which drag our perceptions of Americans down. There are many arrogant types amongst you which make you all seem like very arrogant people who don't know the world past your borders. Now don't get me wrong, I know about 90% of American citizens are actually very much different, but it's that 10% that drag you all down unfortunately. And also, to be fair, your country hasn't the... how to put it... proudest of history. Your ancestors basically slaughtered the people who had rightfully arrived before the first settlers because of their 'Manifest Destiny'. But mind you, neither do the English... very awkward moments... Mostly to do with unjust religious homicides. *Cough* Crusades. *Cough*

The US reminds me of Edo Madara in so many ways. It is so powerful, it can be considered a 'God', yet it lacks the good 'Will of Fire' or in this case the 'Will of Peace' since there is no world peace. If the US wanted to, it could bring peace and happiness to the whole World. It has the power which is why it's considered to be the Superpower afterall. Not a single being would be left hungry, depressed and left to die. The US has failed to do this, thus resulting in almost half the world loathing it.

By the way, when I say US, i'm not referring to the country geographically because some parts of the place are beautiful and i'm not referring to every American either because some Americans are among the most friendly, sincere and greatest people today. When I say US, I refer to the government and one's in charge of the country such as the president.

My oldest son is a junior in college.. like many of you posting in this he's in the "young naive and stupid" years.. thats cool we all were at some point. I know there are alot of folks here from around the world with diverse opinions... Allow me to address my fellow americans here and decide if you agree... I served in the Navy as an aircraft mech after Vietnam and have been lucky to visit many places around the world. A few years ago I went to Hawaii on vacation and visited Pearl Harbor and the Arizona memorial for the first time. I'd been to pearl several times the carriers first stop on WestPac duty but being a 19yr old all I did was chase girls and party.. my girlfriend saw that I got very emotional and asked why? My response was to ask if she knew what it was to be on a ship in the middle of nowhere and see the missles coming nowhere to go or hide.. Then I told her how you always felt the hate everywhere you went and we'd asked for it for sure but... I told her if she thought East Milwaukee was bad she had no clue India where I saw families 2-3 sometimes living in a cargo container.. kids playing in Manila stop and **** in the dirt street and keep playing.. Thailand where girls came down from the hills to earn a dowery by whoring themselves out.. the stench of Seoul and Hong Kong... I could go on but like or not we are the best greatest country on earth and our people the most generous. Everyone wants us to save their ass and throw money at them but they wouldn't piss on us to put us out if we were on fire! And you think we should let a bunch of religious nutcases have nukes? Tell ya what Hipster go stand next to the Hiroshima memorial study your history and get back to me after you visit the Arizona.. My next vacation? My parents love America and the opportunities it gave them but they have not sugar coated america like they do in school. Americans came to this land and stole everything. I have visited much of the world and there is even a museum to show their hate to America in a country by showing their cruelty.
