[Discussion] How will Byakugan play into all this?

We have seen that the Rinnengan and Sharingan play an important role in the current plot but it seems the Byakugan is being left out. Could it have a larger role yet to be revealed? Is is possible for the Byakugan to play a major role in up comming events or is the Byakugan really just another average Kekki Genkai?

I didn't really think the Byakugan was all that special to begin with when you compare it to the Sharingan. It helps you do another brand of taijutsu which can be useless against people like Naruto who has an alternate chakra source. People like the Raikage who have abilities to shield themselves. People like Gaara who have defensive measures. It can help you see through genjutsu and whatnot, but when you compare it to the Sharingan it looks pretty weak.

Byakugan is great for scouting though and it helps you see how chakra flows (or something..) but you are right compared to Sharingan it is not so good. Maybe there is a Byakugan stage 2, Mangekyou Byakugan or something that has not be seen yet but might play bigger role in the future but I doubt it... I guess the whole story of Sage was a way to tell how the Leaf Village got two special eye families in their village.

i think the byakugan is a great analising and scouting technique,but when compared to sharingan it is nothing.i mean the sharingan has a way to "evolve",if i may say so,to a much powerfull ocular technique,the mangekyo sharingan.so basically byakugan is just another average kekkei genkai

But yups, I agree that Byakugan is oucasted. But I will stick to one of my theory. where I said,

• Sharingan-Omnipresence-with space time techs(e.g., Madara you can be present at any place at any time.
• Rinnegan-Omnipotence-potential to do anything e.g., pain had an ability to control life and death.
• Byakugan-Omniscience-ability to see through anything or see everything.

So I think byakugan can see through and analyse everything on that tablet. IMO Byakguan will play big role in future. It will be from Hinata. I dont think Neji. Bcoz, both the other doujutsus are activated under emotional stress(love). So I think Hinata willl be doing/activating new byakugan.

Byakugan is unfortunately the odd child. You know threes a crowd etc. If Byakugan was important to the plot you'd think Madara would've mentioned it's role in history but Kishi has neglected it for a very long time. It's still a kick ass Dojutsu which all the matters but don't expect a great revealation concerning the Byakugan. I'll eat crow if Kishi does pull one out of nowhere though :D

Very interesting, I do hope Byakugan becomes more important then it is now in any way but It would be cool if it was some how used to combat Sharingan. (even though Negi would get beat very badly if he were to fight the current Sauske)

It seems most think it will just get left behind and that it is in fact insignificant I hope this is not the case.

At any rate I hope Hinata becomes a more active and involved character in the manga.

Byakugan seems more suited for stealth and scout type missions. It doesnt seem like its all that powerful in fights. I mean we have seen the Byakugan beaten a number of times. Naruto beat neji that spider dude "cant remember his name" pretty much found out the weakness and had the Byakugan countered. He only lost because he got careless. Hinata got beat down by pein. Unless theres some hidden potential we havent seen outta the Byakugan like some sort of MS but a Byakugan form i dont see it helping that much other than covert missions

you seemed to just throw hinata away as weak against pein but if you look at it we have not seen anyone that could have peaten him cept naruto. we know that madara is weak and was probably weaker than pein.

also that sound guy kidomaru was a genious and was the perfect match against neji. shikamaru and tsunade both agreed that chunin and jonin were needed but none were available.
the sound 4 were high level ninja and on top of that they had the curse mark.

also the byakugan is more than just a scouting tool. using the byakugan you can see your opponents every attack apart from that small blind spot. you can also see the opponents chakra and chakra network. you can see through most attacks but that is based upon the users skill, and react in the most cost effective way.
the byakugan is more powerful than the normal sharingan in reading movements and seeing chakra the only problem is that the sharingan keeps getting upgrades and can copy most jutsu.
i mean MS then the EMS now the ability to put your sharingn on the moon!!!
nothing has changed for the byakugan since its introduction in the fight between neji and hinata. it needs some development. i think kishi is planing on developing it soon. i mean when hinata jumped in to fight pein it pretty much demanded that it needed development. and when Ao turned out to have the byakugan leads me to believe that he really is planning to develop it. even if it is just him fighting danzo and loosing barely just to show that it is not as weak as we think.

I agree. The byakugan and sharingan have a strong connection as said by Kakashi in the Naruto Series at the Chunnin exam. So basically it definetly needs developing. I think the main part of the Byakugan lacking development was because it was not that much used. Considering that after the chunin exam we barely saw Neji or Hinata. I think it will get a major upgrade soon if it has anything to do with the Main Plot. And someone said that Nejis eyes have nothing to do with the stone left by SO6P but that is not true but no one in Hyugga clan knows about the Stone. Itachi said it was a secret known only by the Uchiha.
