Yes that would in fact make a large amount of sense but think of this, each individual mask should have sealed off specific things, so why is it than one mask and sacrifice is able to release the hokage's and orochimaru's arms only and not everything thatg has proviously been sealed or is it only what the user chooses to release that is released?

Every sealing jutsu doesn't seal a person forever, and Reaper Death Seal is the only technique in which seals the user forever inside a Shinigami's belly. The mask was used only for reversing the previously sealed things inside of the belly of the Shinigami, the other mask possibly provided reverse sealings for other sealing techniques, and/or an extensive use for sealing on stronger opponents.

Why don't you go into depth and tell me why you believe such to be plausible?

It's simple really. The Uzumaki were renowned, and feared throughout the ninja world for being experts in sealing. The fact that one of the masks was able to overturn such a risky jutsu, has led me to believe the 25 other masks possess the same ability. Since the Uzumaki's jutsu consist primarily of sealing techniques, it isn't far fetched to believe the remaining masks allow one to overturn a sealing jutsu. As Itachi said, every jutsu has a weakness, and as Noddy and youself said, they're a bit rough and savage, meaning their reverse sealing methods were bound to be brutal, plus discovering a way to overturn such a jutsu is handy in it's own right...

Yes, that was shown as anyone (besides Orochimaru who used his Oral Rebirth to bypass none evasive sacrifice to perform the technique) who performs the technique will have to cut the Shinigami's belly with a Tanto (cutting their own as well) will kill themselves in the process.

The Sage being an Uzumaki could explain why Kurama recognized the Torii seals that was used on him as being the Sage's because Kushina being a descendant of the original bloodline, would have knowledge of the sealing techniques that Rikudou Sennin himself used.

Like I said in my thread, it's more plausible to believe that all of the masks in the Uzumaki Shrine serves a function in sealing/unsealing techniques that the clan uses rather than, with the exception of the Shiki Fuujin mask, the others being fakes.

Very well thought out theory interesting! I can't help but wonder though how it is masks of such potential and indeed the clan house itself have never been seen or mentioned up till now. Surely Danzo the elders and I assume the Hokage knew of their purpose... but to leave them unsecured?

Think about this: if the 25 other masks were fake and the Shiki Fuujin mask being the only genuine one, then that would mean that the makers of that temple were trying to dissuade others from using their sealing/unsealing techniques, if that is so, then it's better that they hid the real mask and left all the fake ones to deter others, since if their original intention was to deter outsiders from using their techniques, then in terms of probability, it would be safer just to hide the real mask altogether, because there would be a 3.84% chance that the intruders would choose the real mask, so it's only reasonable to assume, that not one, but all 26 masks serves a function in the Uzumaki's techniques.
