Rock Lee eh? Who would you have liked to see gone with them instead?

Rock Lee seems like the odd one out in that group. Sai is obviously the more experience member and also presumably team leader. Sakura is the negotiator and obviously going to do the talking with Naruto. Kiba is responsible for locating Naruto and keeping their trail clean. Rock Lee is there for the "muscles"?

This would've been an awesome time to for Neji to really show skill as the only jonin form the Konoha 12. Wasn't impressed with his rescue Gaara performance. Also could've been interesting if he had a confrontation with the Raikge assuming he the current Raikage at the time of his fathers death and the Byakugan could again played some important role in the story.

Or Hinata for the same reason of Byakugan seemingly being conveniently forgotten in the Ninja history. Also we could have finally gotten a response from Naruto concerning Hinata's feeling for all those NaruHina fans. This has been oddly glossed over though the plot has moved pretty fast lately.

Or anyone else? Not dissing Rock Lee but it surprising that he has decided to go on this mission. Maybe he has a new technique that Kishi wants to show later on. Also of note, this would mean Ten-Ten is currently the only member of the Konoha 12 barring Sasuke of course, that hasn't been part of these 'assembled' teams. Kakashi with members of Team 10, Neji was in the team rescue Sasuke and Hinata and Shino in the team find Itachi. Ten Ten has never been out of her team

Well actually, Neji hasn't been in one of those teams either.
Or was that in the anime filler arc?

But I agree, he would have been a better choice to go to the Iron Country with the other three. He'd have brought additional aid to the tracking idea, and it would have made interesting plot development not only to see him interact with the man responsible for his father's death, but also with Ao, who's stolen that Byakugan eye.

There just seems like there's less intensity in Hinata going. Since Sakura's going there for Naruto, having Hinata tag along too for the same reason would just make it lose effect, and I still think her declaration to Naruto was a one-off, desperate stand, since she thought he was going to die.

Neji was in that rescue Sasuke team which consisted of himself, Naruto, Shikamaru, Kiba and Choji. Essentially the first assembled team in the manga but it was ages ago I guess.

Yeah Neji should've went with them instead. Would've got the Byakugan relevance back into the plot. I thought Yamato mentioning it Byakugan/Cloud village controversy and Ao having one could've been forshadowing for one of the users to have a confrontation but I guess not. Would have been interesting to see his reactions.

Kishi really should have had a Naruto and Hinata scene after the Naruto vs Pain fight. Too bad the cloud-nin got thrusted into the storyline immediately. Wasn't much chance to reflect on past events.

Neji is certainly a better choice, as compared to lee. He is only jounin from rookies. He has byakugan taken to extent possible. He is strong, genius and I wanted to see Byakugan against Sharingan. So there was a chance that byakugan will be taken to next level. And then there is Neji v.s ao. It would have been good match up.

I actually disagree with replacing Lee with Neji. I see where you guys are coming from, but I think it would have been a bad move. The plot line right now is the Kages vs. Madara/Sasuke. Thats the conflict that Kishi is focusing on right now. The way he is making it play out is putting the 5 countries on the same side as allies. If you bring Neji along then he has to confront the people who are responsible for his father's death, as well as a man who has "stolen" the byakugan. It would have created a conflict when there really was no place for it. Maybe at some point later it will happen, but right now theres just too much going on to introduce that.

That's nothing wrong with a bit more conflict to spice up the manga

I'm assuming Naruto's party and Sakura's party will arrive there quite some time after Madara has left. There would've time after with their planning strategies for this little storyline to occur. Since Kishi is putting a large focus on origins at the moment it would've been interesting to get info at how the Byakugan fits into everything. Neji questioning this could've been a way to do this.

I think you guys are digging too much into this Byakugan has some kind of destiny storyline coming up. I don't think there will be anything like that... This byakugan user or stealer chased Danzo didn't he? I think he will be killed. Danzo will mutulate his body and take the eye back! Thats what I predict. So even if Neji came along he would not have seen this guy!!

I think the conflict would've been good between Raikage-Neji-Ao, personally.
It doesn't matter what the current storyline is, there needs to be realism.
You don't just achieve peace by forgetting about the past, like Naruto shows with Nagato, being able to *understand* each other, is key to securing an end to fighting. In order for the village alliance to work, a lot of old rivalries and hatreds will need to be solved, in my opinion.

And yes, I too thought that Tenzou's reference to the current Raikage as the man responsible for the death of Neji's father seemed foreshadowing to me. I was hoping something would come of it.

They should have Shikamura he is by far better than most with Neji not far behind. Rock Lee is good for comic relief and bringing the physical fight but this current shit is outta of his league.

Neji and Shikmura would have been better one or the other.

Well, we really haven't seen what he's become capable of since the time-skip. There was the one fight during the Save Gaara arc, but really that wasn't much, plus he was probably holding back by not using the gates. I'd like to see if he's become more skilled them since the last time we saw him fight with them. Plus, with a medical nin like Sakura around, he'll be able to push himself farther than he would otherwise.

I actually think the team thats been assembled is a good one. Sakura has medical, plus super-strength, Sai has surveying and long-distance attacks, Rock Lee brings speed and strength to back up Sakura and Kiba has tracking, which seems to out-do even the Byakugan in terms of the range in which he can pick up enemies, though his offensive ability seems to be somewhat below par. But I think its a good team up.

Well Naruto hasn't thanked Hinata yet for trying to help him. Can't they get a little reunion together? I'm bored of Sakura's hot and cold feelings :no_ignore:
