Is patience required to complete your goal?
My goal is finish my novel and make at least a decent amount of money from the sells. Writing a book is sooo time-consuming though, especially under such undesirable conditions. My family is so loud, nosey, and we're poor. So it's really hard to focus when I'm always hungry.
Anyway, please reassure me that I'm not the only one whose goal takes a crap load of time to achieve. Tell me about yours.

Re: Is patience required to complete your goal?
As of now I have no goal (still in high school). But yes, patience is required to achieve any goal, don't let anyone tell you it isn't. And good luck with your book, I really hope it sells

I'm also in high school. If you're a junior or senior, then you probably should have a long-term goal in mind.
Thanks, dude. I hope so, too.

Well yes, I'm a junior and I have a goal in mind, but I won't be able to seriously act on it like you are doing with yours for a while. My goal is to be a professional actor. I got the lead in Macbeth at my school, so I guess that counts for something
Would you like to share a little about your book?

Re: Is patience required to complete your goal?
Im going to college right now for computer animation and game art, less than 1yr left! Good luck trying to get your book published, seriously. You better hope it sells because you would have to take out a hefty loan to pay a publishing company to print your book IF they choose to publish it. If it dont sell then your in the hole thousands of dollars. dont mean to sound harsh but it's true.

Re: Is patience required to complete your goal?
Yah, what HiddenSound said is true. Patience is important and is needed for any goal. Even I have a huge goal, a goal which I don't think will have enough time for. Sometimes I become hasty and always think about trying to achieve my goal as fast as I can. But I know that I lack the ability. I lack alot of abilities which is why I need to take it easy and work step by step. Creating objectives in order to reach your goal can help. Good luck in acheiving your goal by the way

Yes, of course, unless your goal is to have no patience

Oh, that I understand. Hell yeah getting a lead role counts, even in a high school play. Even if you are a big fish in a small pond, that shows that you are more talented ad promising than others. Well, it's not right to think of everything as a competition, but still. Good luck on that, man. I mean it. When deserving people accomplish their dream, it is a beautiful thing.
Ehh, all I can say is that it's a deep story that's no one would ever expect a teen to have written.
Let's hope that we both of our dreams become reality. :D

That's sick, man. I'll enjoy waking up everyday if that were my job. I don't like to write, it is just that it's my only talent and I gotta make the most of it.
Yeah, I know. Being an aspiring writer is tough, but I read books that gives advice to how to become a successful author.

Literally rope? Oh. It's just that I haven't heard of that before, but someone needs to sell rope, right?

Re: Is patience required to complete your goal?
Well in your case, patience is highly required to right a good novel because a good novel cannot be written in just one or two days. You have to take breaks once in a while, look for more inspirations, get feedback from other people, etc. I would say it should take several months or even a good year to write a good novel but that's just me and everyone has their own pace they work at. Yes, at least some level of patience is required for any goal.

Hmmm agreed, except that I don't think it's such a good idea to show people an unfinished, un-copyrighted book--they could steal the idea if they like it. I only ask for feedback from my mom and grandma because they're trustworthy and hardcore readers. Yeah, it will probably take a year. Man, being a writer is very tedious. Oh well. *shrug*

Re: Is patience required to complete your goal?
Patience and fortitude... I own and run my own business as an long haul trucker. Patience in that you will succeed knowing there is a price paid for that success that others will never know or appreciate fully. Fortitude for the strength to push on in the face of setbacks or financial crisis when quitting and giving up look easier and less expensive. Others will ask you how you do it how can you sacrifice your social life and leisure time for that? Rudyard Kipling once said something to the effect that " Only those who have dared step onto the hot sands of the arena and given their all win or lose can truly know what it is to live." My family and friends have asked those questions but they can never know the feeling of the first time you turn the key in a new $150000 truck that your banker said "Your loan was easily approved and we're happy to participate in your success." and hear it roar... Go for it!!

Re: Is patience required to complete your goal?
Yes patience is key to reach your goal, especially if you're writing a book! (which I aspire to do someday as well). My goal is wayyy down the road cause I have to do 4 years of undergrad, 3 years of law school, then work my way into the elite ranks of my goal, working as a lawyer for the United Nations. Now that requires patience! :D

I have the same goal, but much better writing conditions. I have other things too, but everything in life always takes time, no matter what it is. You'll only get there by earning it.

Re: Is patience required to complete your goal?
Good luck. Writing a book rocks. I once did it just for myself. I wanted to find out of I can do it plus it helped me working things out. Having a goal is a great thing but the second you reach it, it becomes boring. I always need a goal in my life I think, something that excites me.
Again good luck with your book.
