Kyuubi Mode & Gear Second. The Similarities & Differences
Please try not to start a flame war over this, I am just stating straight facts.
Awhile ago a made thread stating how Kyuubi Mode and Gear Second were similar. Most people didn't agree with me and kinda saw their point. But after doing some extensive research on both forms I came to the conclusion that overall these two forms are not similar, but they are similar in one aspect and I'll explain later. But first, I'll start by explaining how these forms are not similar.
In terms of appearance and mechanics Gear Second and Kyuubi Mode are not similar at all, because while Luffy's body turns red due to increase in blood-flow, Naruto's body turns yellow due to increase in chakra capacity. These are the two reasons why people say these forms are similar at all and I completely agree with them.
But there is one similarity that these two forms share.
In terms of overall fighting styles, Gear Second and Kyuubi Mode are similar, since both fighting styles for these two forms mainly revolve around speed. That is the one and only aspect that people cannot deny when it comes to these forms.
So overall these two forms are not similar, but in terms of overall fighting styles they're similar, and that is the only aspect that these two forms share.
Agree or disagree?

Speed and power. Obviously they don't look alike.

This could be said about a lot of power-ups in most series.
And Luffy doesn't really turn red, though it looks epic. Turning red is an anime only thing.

Maybe in terms of strength, Gear 2 is above KM, but in terms of speed their equal, it's just hard to tell which form is faster.

Re: Kyuubi Mode & Gear Second. The Similarities & Differences
I always thought Gear Second and Lee using Gates were more similar. Both increase strength and speed , but not only that, it is because they increase the blood flow in the body. Lee turns red also because of increase blood flow. It's just Luffy pumps A LOT more blood because it was stated that much pressure would make someones heart explode if they were normal. Lee was able to keep his heart intact. Maybe that is why people die when using 8 gates. Their hearts explode from too much pressure.

In terms of appearance and mechanics, Gear Second and Eight Gates are similar, but when it comes to Kyuubi Mode and Gear Second, their fighting styles are the same.
