This technique allows the user's spirit to materialise and leave his body, which is then able to take possession of a target, enabling them to freely manipulate the victim's body at will. Dan Katō noted that this technique had been used to kill a great number of shinobi during his lifetime. The only known way to counteract the technique is to trap the user within a barrier, such as the Four Violet Flames Battle Encampment, before they can activate it.
With the release of the Summoning: Impure World Reincarnation technique, a reincarnated Dan was capable of taking control of his ascending spirit for a short period of time using this technique. It crossed a vast distance and was still able to manipulate a person's body as well as transfer chakra to them.
So there is only one known way to counter this technique, and you cannot do it if you aren't right next to the caster to either destroy his body(the jutsu would still be in effect in this case), or trap the caster's soul inside a barrier.
If the caster has help from his team mates who are possibly guarding his position then there is no conceivable way to stop this technique. It can kill any one! No matter their strength. Even an intangible Kamui wielding Obito, since the attack is not tangible or visible.
How do you KA someone who is possibly miles away from you? Or a spirit that you can't even see?
So this whole thread supposes that Dan is miles away and knows exactly who he's fighting, where they are? When you put it in that bias way then yes this technique is "better"
It carries the same risks of the Yamanaka clan's mind transfer jutsu, it leaves your body exposed. Now, if it turned your body into a ghost, sort of like a Danny Phantom, then the jutsu would be OP

How do you think he found Tsunade in the short time he had left with the jutsu?
its very powerful, but as rikerslade said, obito would let it pass through his body because it really isnt there to be possessed anyways
The spirit is invisible on top of being intangible and it inhabits the body by taking over the soul. It will work on Obito, he won't even see an attack coming in the first place.
Only because of Choza telling Dan the kages were fighting Edo Madara ... And Madara blows up moutains so ?
Of course he knew they were fighting. How would he find out where they were? Please give a better reason than "He watched him blow up a mountain" >_> That is utter non sense.

He found Edo Madara, I'm sure most conversations were about him at that (and the present) time. Are you trying to suggest that jutsu gives ultimate sensory abilities too...?
Yea , it's an op jutsu, which is why choza was so adamant on putting a barrier on dan before he used the jutsu.. Not to mention that in the spirit form he's rediculously fast.. able to get from his original location to tsunade/madara's fight in a couple of seconds..

It's actually not bad reasoning. Dan probably heard a mountain blow up or might have seen a huge dust cloud from the mountain that Madara destroyed. He could have easily just flew in the direction of where he heard it or saw it and just saw Tsunade and the Kages who he was looking for.

Please tell me you have something better than "conversations". And yes I believe that as a spirit, he can sense other spirits.

What are you 12? That is the most infantile reasoning I've ever seen. He can probably locate spirits as a spirit himself.
