[Question] One Piece - To watch or not

Hello there Fellow base members

I would consider myself quite an Anime lover, and I've watched quite a lot.
But one anime that I've never gotten myself to watch is One Piece.

Now, I've seen the first 9 episodes, and although I think it's okay, I'm still not completely hooked.
So I wanted to ask, if you will get dragged more into the story? And if so, when?

One of the things I like about Naruto, is the character development, and how you can speculate about the jutsus, and the fights in general.

If you got some other reasons to watch it, please do tell

Oh.. And I've found the first 10 episodes in high res (the "Special" releases).. But do I really have to watch the rest of the episodes in 480p? (Untill the newer ones of cause)...

Imo, the artwork sucks.

But it's a great series, I recently began reading the manga. Luffy is awesome.

i could never bring myself to watch animes but the manga for one piece is very good it's definitely worth watching

At the begining I found it boring too,I don't remember when exactly I got hoocked but I can say now that is epic.The characters are very unique,everybody has a good history background and the plot is evolving in many levels.For me is a must watch.

And though it's mixed opinions I think I'll atleast gotta give it a try for the first 50 episodes or so..
I've read in another thread that the first 20 are the boring ones..

But when does the quality get better than 480p?
I've found a download for the first 100 episodes, in 480p.. and if it's better before that I should atleast find a better quality then

watch you wont regret it

it a bit slower in the start but the moment the crew enter Grand Line it'll be really fun and intersting

i really cant tell much abt it without spoiling it for you

if character development, depth in plot, twists in the storyline, are your thing then you will love One Piece

one advice though is do not skip any episodes/chapters in One piece .....in one piece what you might think as irreverent at beginning might play important role afterwards.....
also though anime is high quality i think it'll most probably edit out violence and lessen the blood effects and such ....so you might try the manga ...

9 episodes and you find it ok so far. Not bad. If you continue with it, it may be top 3 for you. You will start to notice a plot around episode 20ish(think 22). From there it gets much better. The animation will start to get better also after 40 or so episodes(2nd season starts). Also, there is a filler arc right before they enter the grandline. I would skip that one, it isn't the best. The other fillers are really good. Then the next two sagas are half way decent and comparable to Naruto at that point. After that, Sh!t gets real. Of course this is like 200+ episodes into the story at this point. There are so many plot twists and character development its insane. It gets out of the Bad guy appears, he is horrible, let's kick his ass, to well...., just watch it and find out.

It's good. and if your an anime lover who has already watched it, you know that it's doing it for ya (most likely). But truthfully, those people that only dip a toe in anime (those that don't watch a bunch of animes) always seem the less taxed and most happy.

its got the best character development i have seen and its great. I prefer it to naruto but but others prefer naruto so it is good. One thing you need is patience since Oda likes telling the story slowly. For example we meet a guy in the first ep but we still have no idea how strong he is

it starts off average , gets better after 60 episodes or so , then it gets into anime top 10 lists if people actually watch that far in , OMG ITS BRILLIANT , watch it!

One Piece is one of the animes you have to watch sooner or later. It's that good. Once they get to Arlong Park, it gets better from there on out. Sadly, it took me like 200 episodes to really start enjoying it. Just bear with it for now. It'll pay off.

I agree, it's hard to understand the manga.

I think I understand why. One Piece is a bit different than Bleach and Naruto, and when you come to like those 2 series, it's harder to follow One Piece.

When I started reading One Piece, I had to change the way I viewed manga in order to like it

I didn't like it not my thing. I guess it would be cool if you like pirates. I'm a huge anime fan and have seen over a hundred series. This is just one of those anime that your into or your not. I'm not going to say it sucks just because I don't like it. One Piece and Bleach are 2 of many that I don't like that many do and are seriously debated on whether their good or not. They probably wouldn't be long running series if they sucked so you either like em or not.

whats not to understand about : luffy collecting allies and crew mates to make a name for himself in hopes of finding the ultimate treasure?
