Jiraiya's spy revealed?
Throughout the manga while J-man was alive (R.I.P.), he was known to have an informant that would leak information to him about Oro, the Akatsuki and other various things.
In the latest chapter we learn that Itachi decided to be a spy on the Akatsuki for Konoha.

Is it possible that Itachi was the one to leak information to Jiraiya somehow?
The only problem I see in this possibility is that this would mean that J-man would have had to know that Itachi was not really a traitor of the Uchiha clan to accept the help of Itachi. But it's possible that Itachi could have informed Jiraiya by other means:shrug:

Then it means Jiraiya knows about Uchiha Massacre too. Possible though.

Nope. Jiraiya would not allow the killing of jins and have his spy supporting it.

Yeah I thought about that as well. But as the person below you mentions, it would explain why Jiraiya didn't try to pursue Itachi or the two of them not fighting each other in pt. 1.

Yeah it would be one of the reasons Itachi did not want to fight J-man. I also don't think Jiraiya put much effort against Itachi and Kisame which also might have had something to do with this but that's just my opinion.

Maybe so but J-man was alive at least through the killing of 3 Jins (Gaara, Yugito, and Roshi) before retaliating against Pain or anyone in the Akatsuki. It's not as if he can really just go up against the Akatsuki and stop them at the time too.

I agree, the manga has always led us to believe that he was spying. I wish we would know though!

yes because a ninja himself Jaraiya never had to kill anyone.....
But this could be a possibility Jaraiya was a pupil of the 3rd I don't see why he wouldn't have kept Jaraiya appraised of Konoha's internal dealings...

Re: Jiraiya's spy revealed?
when Tobi and Sasuke enter the village and Sasuke was angry when he heard the konoha ninjas to say bad things for Itachi Tobi stopped him saying "that even the 5th hokage didnt know about Itachi's mission" ! So i dont think Itachi was sending infos to Jiriya directly!Maybe by controlling someone with a genjutsu to send infos hoping for someone skilled like Jiriya to collect the info! Non?
