Let's be honest Smoker got worked this arc. And im starting to think Oda is trying to push Coby into being Luffy's main marine rival now. So who do you think is Luffy's marine rival? Smoker or Coby?

I think Smoker should be his rival.
-Its only fair for Smoker to get whipped this arc b/c he whipped Luffy in part 1.
--The purpose of Smoker losing shows how powerful the enemies in the New World are, and How much Luffy has to grow if he wants to be the best
As for Luffy's enemy that has to be the Magma guy um...Akainu
-For simple reasons everyone knows.

Smoker ofcourse. Coby will never fight equal with Luffy, no, not even be close to it. I'm not saying Smoker is equal to Luffy now, but they always had a rival thing before the timeskip.

Smoker would always be his pursuer, he would have to die to give up that position. That would be like changing someones persona. Smoker's persona and only reason he's in the New World is to pursue Luffy. Ever since Logue town.
I think that Coby may be working directly under Akainu as a Marine Captain.
