The "Minato" that witnessed these events from within Naruto was not the REAL Minato. It was a manifestation of Minato created by his chakra. The actual Minato was sealed away in the Death God's stomach.

The two are not the same entity.

Hashirama probably knew her only as a spoiled kid. Minato knew her as one of the sannins.

After all, she had made a place for herself even if after Dan's death she had left the village. And since she was accepted as the new Hokage- It can be concluded that Minato was not the only one 'impressed' with her. Danzou would have thrown her out if that was the case. She did manage to keep Konoha stable and back on track for the most part. I doubt Minato or Hiruzen would have been able to handle it either if Pain attacked Konoha like that.

Nagato was not an easy target for anyone. If he really had killing instincts and personal ambition of his own he would have been deadlier.

well minato and sarutobi would have taken on pain way earlier since they aren't healers they would have told the medics to help the viallge and the anbu to protect the citizens
