Naruto is very well-balanced in its combat.

Everyone has a weakness, and every jutsu has a weakness.

Raikiri/Chidori are fast one-shot kill abilities, but require you to move completely straight or the power deactivates, and requires a high speed, meaning it's hard to detect a counterattack.

As we all saw in the latest Shippuuden episode, Chibaku Tensei is countered by having enough force to push the gravitational center out of its root.

Every low-medium level Genjutsu can be countered very easily - simply by releasing it or by an ally releasing it for you. But the thing about Genjutsu is that you have to notice you are in one before you can release it. This, a skilled Genjutsu user can be really annoying.

Taijutsu is countered by Ninjutsu. Ninjutsu is countered by Genjutsu, and Genjutsu is countered by Taijutsu AND Ninjutsu (from someone who is able to assist their ally under the Genjutsu).

Rasengan requires close range, which means far higher risks than in ranged attack, and if you want to throw Rasengan, it has a relatively low travel speed.

Sharingan is offense. Byakugan is utility. There should be a third eye power that focuses solely on defense to finish the trinity, but for some reason there isn't.

I believe Naruto might be the only combat-oriented anime that's actually FAIR in its combat. If you see two people fighting (if you can get past the 9999999999999 flashbacks) who are on equal level, you can be sure that one of the two isn't just going to herpaderpderp and win unless it's for plot.

This built-in balance of the abilities in Naruto are one reason why I think Naruto might make a good PvP MMO/RPG type of game. And I'm not talking about some silly browser games or the awkward RPG part of the forum. I'm talking about an actual game. If a company ever decided to do it, it would be very easy to balance the game so no ability would be overpowered - simply because that's almost exactly how it is in the anime itself.

Would love some kind of mmo along those lines, as long as its not to much Asian-population-oriented with unnecessary grinds and farms.

Cant find any good mmos these days anyway..

      Cool

Re: Naruto is very well-balanced in its combat.

sorry dude but that's completely untrue, all the MS powers are OP almost instant and for each of these powers there's only one person to counter them.there's no balance at all.
but if you take off MS,EMS,rinnegan and bijuu powers you'll be maybe right.
